Here's one in much crappier condition than Lemming's if anyone wants it:

Using American Ebay as a benchmark it would seem that it's worth quite a lot:

To answer questions on Optimus Prime (1984 original),

it's worth roughly $225, although I paid just over half that.

I have others (Blastoff, Topspin, Broadside etc) but can't find them, and I've several due from Ebay including

    Micromaster "Groundshaker" (base)
    Micromasters "Battle Patrol"
    Jazz (Commemorative Re-issue)

    Oh god .....

you DO realise that you are SERIOUSLY undervaluing that? :(

Prime himself, as you state, is in very good condition! The fact you even HAVE a box and the manual jacks the price up something awful!

Think I'll bid on that one mysel (just for the box and manual) :D

Ah! Should state that it's not actually my auction! Just bringing it to the attention of transformer lovin' ATR readers! ;)

I had issues 1-74 of the comics, perfect condition will all free gifts and all specials. My mother threw them out when I was in secondary school because she said they would attract mice !!!!!

To this day, I still like to show her what they would have been worth on Ebay.

I have a similar tale of woe, although this time with my darling father instead of my mother.

I do still have the original Movie VHS though (which can't be got anymore 'cause it was pulled) & one of the old annuals (the one with Ultra Magnus & Galavtron on the front) & the graphic novel of the film.

    Ah the transformer comics.
I still have a folder with the target 2006 collection somewhere (was the introduction of galvatron).

    Oh I am a nerd.......

Transformers were fun toys, for sure!

The comics were the best thing though. I distinctly remember a story of Ultra Magnus fighting Galvatron in a huge forest fire! Great writing and art.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 15,552 ✭✭✭✭GuanYin

Yeah I remember that one too!

They ended up buried in a volcano.

I was always a bit pissed off how wussy they made UM in the comics though. He was much cooler than that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,149 ✭✭✭✭Lemming

I was never big on UM for some reason. Dunno.

I absolutely loved JetFire (possibly my fav transformer) :D and the Dinobots & the Constructicons too

On the comic front, I rather liked "DeathsHead" if anyone remembers him? he was a mercenary bounty hunter introduced around the story of "Target: 2006"

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 15,552 ✭✭✭✭GuanYin

Yeah he was class, he got his own comic and a few mini-stories, but wasn't as interesting as in Target 2006.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,590 ✭✭✭lordsippa

Got an old Deathshead comic somewhere...

i loved the ones that used to connect up together to form a bigger robot, from 4 or so smaller parts and the one main one, oh yeah then i'd get optimus prime to smash em to pieces

does anyone remember that when you put your finger over or rubbed the holagram sticker it changed. i also had optimus prime but in my younger days i was a destructive little b*****d. probably buried in little pieces out the back yard.

I have about 50 G1 transformers (prime, jazz, prowl, sunstreak etc) all in perfect condition (most with boxes) in my attic. Along with about 200 comics (ok to good condition) and about 10 annuals.

I love the way my mother hoards everything! :)

I have that Optimus Prime '84 at home. No box though and the part that pushes the car out is broken.:( :(:(

That boxed Optimus Prime on ebay went for £13.50 - did anyone here buy it? (Seems like a good price).

I have every episode on Transformers on CD as Mpeg files. 98 Episode in total!!

James, you and I should talk !

Anyone else remember the scrambled graphs on the backs of the boxes with that robots stats, you got a little slip of red plastic to hold over it and you saw the graph of the robots stats then.

Up till a few years ago (when I gave them away, almost mint to a kid who smashed em up), I had an original soundwave and ravage/laserbeak, huffer, prowl, grimlock, starscream and ramjet and the hardest to come by for me, shockwave. What was I thinking of ?

Ramjet was my fav, although a little silly, raming things in a plane ? Actually that's been done.

I recall good stories about shockwave and the dinobots early on in the comics, also later on in the comics when they got to cybertron, that small guy who turned into a wheel but died in a big melting vat, great storyline, would love to read them all again.

    Got some new beasties :)

I'll put up pics later cause my dig. camera needs a recharge.

    Micromasters Battle Patrol (Autobot)
    Micromasters GroundShaker (Autobot Base/Tank)
    Autobot Jazz (U.S. Commerative Re-Issue)
    Limited Ed. PredaKing Litho (24" x 18")

Currently attempting to get my hands on a BOXED Fortress Maximus .... which is going to hurt something awful in the bank ... and Scorponok.

Apparently there is a new Transformers: ARMADA comic out in the shops. Written by none other than Simon Furman , and soon to be drawn by Andy Wildman , Geoff Senior, and Lee Sullivan!

    Hooray and hurrah!:D :D

You misunderstand ...... this is a UK-only comic by Panini.

Armada is awful. The Generation 1 comic and The War Within are both good reading though.

Damn. It was just the mention of those artists and writer I mentioned above that piqued my interest in Armada, not directly because of Armada itself.

Given that you've noted that Armada is crud, I'd much prefer Furman/Senior/Sullivan/Wildman to work on a comic featuring the original G1 characters. Rock that would.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,149 ✭✭✭✭Lemming

I must say that I'm not overly fond of Armada, although I don't dislike it either. What troubles me about it is that we know what happened (roughly speaking) during the civil war. What they've done with Armada is create an alternate parallel universe thingy, which is a bit wierd to get used to.

Hence why G1 & the War Within are more popular me thinks.

I don't like the artwork in Armada, so I just can't get into it at all.
But I heard it's crap anyway.
