    hi all,

i'm wondering if i can connect the ethernet output from an ntl cable modem to an ethernet hub and use a few pcs off it? or would i need a router for this?

    any advice would be great.

    thanks in advance.

Ideally, you would need a router. I got this one from komplett.ie and it works perfectly. It was a doddle to set up.

The other option is to connect the modem via USB to your main computer and set up Internet Connection Sharing, this is what I did initially but it became a bit of a pain having to boot up the main pc every time I wanted to use my laptop online, or xbox live.

You need a router because NTL only supply one IP address. A proxy or ICS will do also. Wingate is decent.
