just a note to say that they don't actually sell chips in bk

they sell a really crap fries substitute

Go to Burdocks and order a large bag of chips and see what I mean

As for real chips. I don't see how anyone could not like them. Those burger king things a pure muck though

the chips in BK turned crap when they made them "crispier". i have never heard anybody say they dont like chips.

and burdocks, amazing chips- make sure you get them to put some "crispy bits" in too. buy a bottle of their vinegar too

I prefer burger king chips. It's easier to pretend they're not 30% soil when they're crispy ;)

Yeah I like to enjoy my bk chips safe in the knowledge that there is nothing remotely natural in them. :p

In america some places serve chips which still have the skins on em they're the best I've found over here as you can be sure they're not some powered **** that's never 50% beef extract.

Wolf don't be obsurd. Everyone likes chips. It is genetically impossible not to.

    Excatly what I was thinking.

I find that small local-type take aways have great cheaps, whereas the big chains like McDonalds and BK have crappy pieces of cardboard that they call "fries".

(Tony's take away in carlow is teh win! :))

have to say the best chips are the ones i've cut and deep fried myself. they take a little while but are definitely worth it.

    as for chippers, in galway
    Grill Action in Mervue
    Salt'n'Pepper in Salthill.

    bk "fries" = yuck
    McD "fries" = eh
oven chips = aren't they just baked potateo?
chiper chips = Um! swimming in vinegar!

a chip is not a chip unless it's cut from a spud and they fried in loads of oil!

If you're making chips at home this is the best way.
Put some salt and vinegar in the oil before you heat it up(everything else you cook after will taste great)
    Has to be hot oil.
Small bit of salt on the uncooked chips(brings the starch out).
Dip the chips in the oil for 30 secs and take out and leave to sit for 2-3 mins(starch again).
    Cook to your pleasure!!

Great chips are re-heats. Thats why chipper chips are the best. They've been left to sit and the starch which gives the great taste comes to the outside. Ever notice that if the chipper is busy and you get a fresh batch they don't taste as good. Thats why.

I find the thought of people....*not* liking chips both horrifying and blasphemous.

You sir, should be castrated from a 14 foot pole, possibly while doused in a paste like mixture of flour and custard.

Mcdonalds and BK have alright chips but the nicest are from KFC or a chipper like Macari's

    Afraid so.

All you have to do is look at the amount of people that will buy chips on their own. Far outweigh the magnitude of punters who opt for a lone burger. => Chips = The gooooooood ****!

But on the subject of the nicest, I'd have to go with Burdock's aswell, even though the majority of chips obtained in your generic Dublin chipper are of a very high standard. In fairness to McD's or BK's, their offerings (while, probably completely artificial) are a grand sidekick to a burger, that are quite palatable when doused in salt!

[EDIT]Just looking at the results there, and it appears that there are SEVEN people on the boards who don't know if they like chips or not! Who are these people? Did they misread the question???[EDIT]

chipper chips are the best with loads of salt and vinigar. the flavor also depends loads on whether lard or vegtable oil is used.

    Mmmmmm chips...

The best place is usualy your local chippy not the McD, BK etc they serve up crap.

Just pour on the salt and vingear......

Im a big chip fan I have to admit. Chip shop chips are the best tho, closely followed by my Ma's chips.

I dont consider McDonalds and Burger Kings product to be food noever mind chips. I also have to disagree on the whole Burdocks being the best chips. They were about 11 years ago, hell they were just so good then, but now a days they are awful. When Burdocks changed over the ovens/friers when the renivated it totaly changed the taste of there fish and chips :(

I heard once that mcdonalds chips actually have 0% potato in them
Of the fast food chains.. KFC's chips are delicious..
Closely followed by that chipper on wexford st (dunno name, green sign)

Depends, there's 'chips' (DIT canteen, meh), and then there's chips (Cafe Angelos, big, fat, fuçk off chips if ever there were. yum! :)) and in between you've got chip wannabies (McD - apparantly they arrive in store as a paste, BK - whos fries turned awful when they changed to King Fries. Yuk. Like eating deep fried paper. So I'm told.)

But I'll still eat 'em (or die trying!)

Info flash! The fatter the chips, the healthier they are! Surface area an' all that.

    It is what it's.
