If I were booking into a hostel in Dublin is it possible to do it late say 3 or 4 in the morning if I was going out in Dublin?

Unlikely, you could probably book up to about 11pm, but you would need to pay there and then. I think some frown on (drunk?) Dubliners staying.

I spoke to a friend about this. Some places will actually take people in the early hours (money in their pockets). Will check where.

Try the Abbey Hostel near O'Connell Bridge, my friend was able to show up at 2 in the morning and was let in (without pre-booking).

Why not book in advance? They will let you in at almost any hour, no curfew.
