I'm reading a book on the afterlife and all that mumbo. I am a middle of the road chap -verdict is out on god etc but I am open to ideas.
The chapter I'm reading at the mo is all about ouija boards the uses and the dangers of 'em. Pretty mad stuff.
I never tried one (me mammy told me never to;) I dunno if I would try one because of all the stories you hear/read.
This methinks is me acting irrationally because if there aint no gord and all that why am I scared of doing one???

Any one done one of these then?

Messed around with them a few times when I was younger but tbh I thought they were a complete load of bollox.

they are meant to work but subliminally. i.e. nothing to do with spirits. the whole "dont do it on your own" warning is the give away that it is bull****

You know how people always think - if it moves - ahh someones moving the glass. I moved the glass.

Did it just once for a laugh when I was in my teens. We closed our eyes and I thought, ahh feckit I'll move the glass. I opened my eyes and noone had their fingers on the glass! heh they showed me!

I personally think it's a lot of rubbish but I suppose it is possible for people to move it subconciously. Didn't waddingtons bring out a board game of it in the eighties?!!

Also I remember the priest in my secondary school said they were dangerous and we shouldn't mess with them :(

    right
seems like I got nuffink to worry about.
If its subconsious though wot about when events, facts etc are related but the people taking part have no way of knowing that knowlage-
i.e. there is buried treasre under such and such a place, they go dig it up and find something?

I'm wary of them, wouldn't bother messin around with one anymore but we tried plenty in our teens and we had some success with it and I can definitely say something happens alright, whether it's your subconscious or whatever that moves it I don't know but there were some answers and movement from the thing that made you **** yourself.

Completely undecided about it myself. I tried it, it seemed to work and it freaked us out a fair bit :)

    Can't be arsed anymore...

It was brought out as, and still is manufactured as (afaik) a board game. It is now owned by Mattell (yes, makers of Barbie. Wonder why they haven't released Ouija Barbie yet).

This has potential to become a chessy horror movie about a ouija board that goes insane. Telling people to do horrible things like use ouija boards.

From what i have heard, the ppl who go in thinking it is a load of bollocks, come out thinking the same

The people who thnk there is something init, come out scared ****less.

Personally, i will never try one as nothing good can come of it.

We did it when we were 17 , trust me stay away from them.

One of my mates never recovered from what happened to him that evening .

As somebody has already said "Nothing good will come from it"

Did it with three mates, two real strict catholics church every sunday at 9am type of decent folk, a jehovah (yes i know one) and myself the lapsed catholic who hasn’t been to mass in three years (keep telling myself i'll get back to it, maybe i'll get converted by one of those born christian dudes when i'm living it up in l.a with ja rule and ashanti, who knows).

The two religious guys were real wary about it beforehand as they heard so many stories etc. Bear in mind it was about 3am in a massive late 19th century house in enniskerry (wickla) in the middle of december, thunder and lightning outside with rain and wind lashing against the house. It had the right effect to scare the shiiit out of someone.

When it came to it, i spelt out the name of one of the religious guys grandfather who died the previous weekend. Anyway it became too much for him, so then myself and the jehovah spelt out CAUTION, the game came to an abrupt halt.

The two guys scared as fuk had to be home by 5 or something, which meant a long walk in the atrocious weather. So 15 mins after they left the house me and the jehovah(guy who owned the house) took two bikes from his shed and slowly cycled behind them making some pretty fukd up noises (the kind which your brain interprets as scary when you cant see 6 feet ahead of you due to the blanket darkness). Eventually they ran home as we pelted some gravel and sticks, which lay on the side of the road at them.

A good night was had by all, bar the two guys who never spoke a word of that night since.

I believe it is all rubbish. Urband Legends filling the minds of little ones. When they get old enough to try it on their own the jump at the time to try it. But never worked for me. I think if it would have really worked I would have brushed it off as rubbish and let it go! But that is just my opinion.

Is it just a piece of wood with letters on, and a normal drinking glass, or does it have to be magically consacrated with the urine of Satan himself or something like that?

A friend tried it while we were with the school in a ski trip this year, the night before our plane flight back he played around and the ouiji board said that the plane would crash, he got really freaked out, I don't think any of the people from the trip believed it would happen, and it didn't, thank god.

Oh the ouija board, my mistake. I thought you were talking about blackboard jungle, what a great show that was.

think the glass is called a planchette (sp?) or something.

I would not MESS with IT even IF it had no power OR if it DID. Because your mind might start playing tricks with you, and DO you really want THAT?

A dam now I can remember some of the fecked up stories that I have heard! Not about this topic about other stuff, I'm might have some nice dreams tonight:rolleyes:

Coincidentally just watched a film with a ouija board as a central part of it tonight, Long time dead and it wasn't great. Anywho i've a couple of friends who would swear something happened with one when they where younger in school, personally i don't believe in any of that **** and tried it with a make shift one in a pub one might with one of those friends, Feck all happened but despite my disbelieve i was a little nervous due to the stigma attached to them, however i still remain a firm disbeliever in it all.

I suppose it is the subconcious (or however I spell it!) pushing the glass around
