Im looking to hand over moderation of the Art /anim/photo board.
I havnt had time to keep an eye on it in a while and dont see that changing anytime soon.
It could do with some one who can spark a bit of life back into it.
I am too busy with DGI and this.

FreaK-Bruther are you still reading these boards?

I'd suggest Samson to cover the area of photography and im not sure who else.

I am honoured by your vote of confidence Figment.

I won't say too much more, other than, yes, I would be available, if officially asked to take on the responsibility.

Would be a shame to see you go all the same, one of the better (read less obtrusive) mods in my book, and no, I ain't licking hole.

I would be willing to put some work into overseeing the smooth running of the forum, if you deem a second person to work with Samson (whom I endorse!) necessary.

I think it has the potential to be a great resource for amateur Irish artists and photographers to share ideas, discuss their work and ask questions in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. In the future it may be an idea to use the forum as a platform for showcasing or promoting peoples' work.

I also think some of the more philosophical discussions about art and creativity would be interesting to many people (and I have started a thread or two in the past). Inevitably these type of discussions get hijacked by Humanities(!), but perhaps we could spark up some interesting debates here as well.

Anyway for what it's worth I'm willing to lend a hand.

For what it's worth, I'll throw my name into the hat, too. Especially like the idea of art philosophy discussions starting up here! [rubs hands with glee] I'd love to help out here. By the way, how did that DGI booze thing in SPI turn out?

Spi was a great success. Everyone really seemed to enjoy it.
We launched the salary survey as well which you can find here: http://www.dgi.ie/salary/default.htm

Cheers Samson, the board really didnt need much obtrusive moding as ye are all too well behaved :)

I dont want this board to become a mainly Photography board so if a second person became mod i would hope they specialise in other areas to maintain a good balance od discussion.
However im not sure of the status of FreaK-Bruther.

    The art philosophy sounds great.

I agree, like the name over the door says, Art / Anim / Photo not Photo, which, as is quite obvious, is my interest.
So, if I am to be involved in moderating this board, there would need to be a second moderator, whose interests, - as far as visual arts are concerned - would be broader than mine.
If it is deemed to be a job for just one person, if I'm honest, I don't think I would be the most suitable candidate.

I'm still knocking around. Would love to mod these boards.

Would defo be willing to put some work in to spice the board up some. Have moved into freehand art and some photography this year, must post some when i finally get my hands on a working scanner. I still freelance around with Graphic design , animation and 3d stuff. I'm planning to do up a new portfolio site during this summer which will be much, much less corprate then the last one.

Would totally agree that we need more philosophical discussions on creative fields. And mabye (i've had this idea for a while) if we could get a couple of ppl intrested even starting a boards.ie art group ? .ie Come up with a pretty open brief each month (or bi-monthly) Say on "Reflections" for example. We could have a dedicated sticky thread for each brief. People can post using any media, it would be intresting to see the scope of the work posted (how a designer would tackle it as apposed to a photographer ect) We could even make up a site pafically to show off some of the best work posted.

That's a good idea. I mean, if it's any use, like, I studied philosophy and art history (and politics), did aesthetics courses and stuff. Y'know, I could do that loike. I dunno, just offering :).

Damnit I hate picking between lots of good candidates for mod.

Ok, in a breach from the norm I've assigned two more mods to this forum even though it doesnt need it.

Firstly I think Figgy is good for this board and Freak is still here so I thought adding some new blood would help and Samson seemed the general consensus. Finally I've meet Havok before and he is very into art/design.

God what fickle reasons to choose one person over another but then there you go... deep down, I'm really a very shallow person.

    DeV.

    I like it.
How about a monthly "themed" competition, any media, as you say. We could even have prizes, nothing fancy, maybe a book or something.
