With all the jives about TV3 being ITV1 Ireland, I'm glad to see its not just one way. Tonight TV3 (simultanously with the network) aired its what I will count as its first ITV Network commission, "Watermelon".

Never mind the fact that it was a silly love story, but it was made in Ireland by Granada Television in association with An Bord Scannan and TV3 Ireland for ITV. There was even a TV3 logo on the Granada-purple endcap.

Well done TV3 for getting their name shown across the UK, and for co-producing their first Irish drama. Lets see the TV3 logo appear again on ITV soon...

I watched the first 15 mins then flicked over to watch some digging on BBC2 - much more entertaining!
God it was annoying how cliched can a story with an Irish theme be in the 21st century? Anne Friels accent got on my tits too....

    Mike.

Well spotted, Ronan! I hope it's the start of a new era for TV3! I have often seen programming co-produced by BBC and RTE but never anything coproduced with TV3!

could it be that this was a Granada production with TV3's name thrown in to keep the BCI happy about its policy on home produced programming

Please post the caption up on the web here so we can all see.

The show annoyed me as Anna Friel cann't do an Irish Accent aren't there other Irish actors that can play irish parts?

Also not to put a downer on the non-ITV 1 Ireland Speak but em

do all of the Regions make some programming that goes out National? Its only fair that TV3 gets that right.

Why didn't they get an Irish producer to help produce the show? Or did they? I don't know. Was it just a granada Tv3 production?
