Blurring the WWF logo

The WWE is ruining old footage/matches by blurring the "WWF" logo. Damn it - this is so annoying! :(

I understand that this action is done because of losing to the Panda Posse, but surely the WWE should have at least ensured that they retained the right to broadcast old footage unedited in this manner.

This will stop me buying DVDs of classic WWF pay-per-views (if and when they are released) - I'd rather buy a few lower-quality VHS tapes off a tape-trader!

    Anybody else feel the same?

I'm glad they have to .. for years they were trying to shut down any body that used teh letters wwf in there domain name .. loads of places were threatened legal action against.

    What goes around ..

These strong-arm tactics the WWE previously used for their 'wwf' trademark are probably coming back to haunt them. True.

But who suffers really? The viewers - Us. And I'll bet I'm not the only person who will not be buying WWE DVD's because of this blurring-the-logo fiasco.

surely the wwe's huge library of originally recorded footage doesnt contain the logo. Or did they accidentaly tape over it all and have to borrow a copy off someone!!!

the ban includes anything visual or verbal - inc each time a commentator/wrestler etc mentions wwf or the logo on turnbuckles, aprons, flags etc etc

the thing i dont get is why they wont start releasing old wcw stuff - is it mcmahons ego, or are they saving it for the wwe channel?

Surely they will have a more sophisticated way of blocking out the WWF sign on the DVDs. Granted, they are blurred out on the reruns on RAW but they will have a lot more time and resources to do a more professional job on the DVDs.

im sure they could, but would it be worth it? the time and effort to go through their entire back catalogue - bleeping/mute verbal refrences and blurring would make more sense and i cant say that im overly bothered by it anyway

Well, they'd have to weigh up the cost of doing so as apposed to the lost revenue if they scrap the idea completely or bring out low quality jobs.
