Mind Control

    Derren Brown Mind Control.

    Geometric shape
I am thinking of a geometric shape. It's quite a simple one – certainly not complicated like a dodecahedron! I want you to mentally picture one as well.

Then around that, place another simple shape, so that the first is inside the second. So you now have one shape inside the other.

    Now make them different colours.

Got all that? Concentrate on that image for a moment, write down what you 'see' and then click to see what I 'saw'.

    Number circle
Now I want you to imagine a large blackboard.

My hand picks up a piece of chalk and writes the number 1. And the number 2 next to it. And the number 3 next to that. And finally the number 4.

Now my hand is taking the chalk and circling just one of those numbers. Keep in mind that circled number and write it down. What is it? Click here to find out.

    Flower
Now imagine a man is standing in a doorway with a flower.

Decide what the flower is and what colour it is. Write this down and then click.

    Jungle animal
Picture a jungle animal ... what is it?

Write down your answer and then click.

    Two-digit number (A)
Imagine that big blackboard again. My hand appears again holding a piece chalk and I'm writing a two-digit number on the board.

The number is between 10 and 50. Both digits are different and they're both odd. Which number do you think I wrote? Write down what you think and then click.

    City
Picture a famous European structure – a building, a monument … anything big and well known – and think of the city that this is in. Write down the names of both the structure and the city, then click

    number (B)
    Back to the drawing board!

Now I write another two-digit number, but this time it's higher than 50. Both digits are even and both are different. Which number do you 'see'? Click.

He's just going on the most popular ones. He of course gives so many limitations - a geometric object but not as complicated as a dodecahedron only leaves 11 alternatives but would sway you to the smaller numbered sides because of the power of suggestion. etc etc

    I chose
An octagon inside a pentagon but forgot to pick colours
    4
    White daisy
    13
    Taj Mahal
    52

he got none of them right. But his TV show is amazing, truly amazing how he can make people do what he thinks by the power of suggestion.

OMG....I'm so predictable, he got all but 2 of my answers.
but the show where he got everyone in the supermarket to raise their hands was amazing.

Thats ridiculously over-simplified from the stuff that Derren Brown actually does - of course it would need to be to work on the net. However, its blatantly transparent - shapes, flowers, landmarks, even the numbers - all the answers are simply the most commonly thought of in their category. Thats not psychology - its statistics.

The proper Derren Brown stuff would involve giving you subconscious mental images with the words he uses to describe situations and stuff like that. Now thats clever.

He got them all wrong for me anyway, except for the Eiffel Tower, which was the obvious one, so I just went along with it.

Ah jeez was it Europe! Just shows how much I listen! I was thinking the Eiffel Tower first but you should learn never to trust your first answer ;)
