Local exchange question?

Im thinking about getting i stream from eircom[am i right in saying this is dsl 512k?] I know one needs to be close to exchange. Im only about a half mile from what the eircom technician who installed my isdn called the local exchange. I know the building but am wondering would this be the same exchange as the dsl exchange…

It should be but don't forget it's the length of the cable not the geographical distance to the exchange. The cable may be much more than the half mile
