Please put up a post as a way of acknowledging Kurt's 9th anniversary - RIP

Nirvana should not be included in rock/metal cillian, they're grunge - either that or they should have their own category

9 years already. time flys. it proves how good the music is considering myself and others still listen to the albums on a regular basis.

it's a real shame that he shot himself :(

you're a bit late with the anniversery it was on Friday

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 927 ✭✭✭decob

ehhh he was found on friday 8th, which would be today, but the time of death was the 5th, which was a sat this yr. So today or saturday just gone would have been the time to celebrate the life and times of Kurt.

Nirvana are the most overrated band ever. Kurt was no genius. He was just a junky filled with drugs. RIP anyway.

and kurt didn't die on the 5th, he was last seen on that date but he spoke to his mother on the phone the following day, it was just that the paramedics couldn't determine the time of death, only to the last 3 days so they persumed it was the 5th. and he didn't kill himself either

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,208 ✭✭✭loismustdie

the only reason they're overrated now is because 13 year olds are buying their albums now but that's not their fault, and he was writing music long before he took heroin and that was a medicinal solution for him

  • Hosted Moderators Posts: 3,290 ✭✭✭TomTom

Kurt: Doctor Doctor I have a pain in my stomach
    Doctor: Here take some Disprin.
    Kurt: No I want Heroin
    Doctor: OK

    TomTom: Yeah Right

Kurt had unexplainable stomach pains, doctors couldn't give him any medication that worked because they didn't know what was wrong with him, he'd been suffering since he was a child and he discovered heroin worked:FACT

and tomorrow night, or even tonight when your downing pints or puking up against a wall, remember it's becasue you were full up of drugs

I direct you to this site and ask you to read the first paragraph.

For those of you who don't want to click the ling it states.
Kurt Cobain lived for twenty seven years, some of which were blighted by excruciating stomach pains that sometimes drove him to consider suicide. But He survived. He managed to get treatment for that problem. He survived.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,208 ✭✭✭loismustdie

he was already hooked, if you look up the facts you'll find that giving up heroin is probably one of the hardest things in the world, by the time he found a cure he'd already been using drugs

I thought they were a rock band. Or if not, part of the Seattle punka/hardcore scene. Grunge was a stoopid name given to them by media vultures. RIP.

actually, In many of the auto-biographies done on him, he hadnt actually recovered from these stomach pains, he found relief in heroin, however, like anything u abuse, the effects started to wear off.

Also, just a note, if u have ever read up on the suicide, he had so much heroin in his blood stream that even for him, a hardened junkie, he would not have had the time to lift up the shotgun, or the energy.

Its really quite a touchy subject, some ppl say he shot himself, others say that he may have been killed.
Whatever the case, there is truth in that the case was opened and closed to quickly, and there is apparently proof that he was infact cuting courtney Love out of his will, which at that time may not have been much, but sales over the past 9 years have gone up.

Reguardless of wheither u like him or not, he was a great artist, and a performer, Nirvana didnt win fans by having an image or unique sound (like those 13's now proclaim) They won over crowds by their performances in the early years playing alongside the pixies at reading and leeds.

He has written some great material. But as with everything in this life, its a matter of taste.

God, it's 9 years already!

And to think I had a ticket for their gig scheduled for 8 April at RDS Simmonscourt Pavillion. Of course, before he died it had been rescheduled to May after he ODed or something

rat, stop spamming about YOU drug habbits and stick to the kurt issue and anyone who's going to criticise kurt shouldn't be in this thread

if you listened to nirvana you'd know that they're not rock and nirvan had **** all to do with the media until well after they had proved themselves to be grunge. Calling Nirvana rock is like calling slayer pop

i have done 2 reports on Kurt which required alot of research and LoisMustDie is in fact right about everything she has posted.

I believe that Courtney had him killed and made it look like suicide but yee are all intitled to your own opinions, I love his music and always will and am saddened by the fact that i will never see him live!

    "Peace, Love, Empathy" Kurt Cobain.
    R.I.P.

You should only refer to someone by their first name if you know them personally

****ing right PornNapster! Layne Staley is dead one year around the same time Kurt is dead 9. and layne is 10 times the musician and songwriter kurt was, but no one even cares. im not saying Kurt isnt important and all, but god he is over rated. RIP and all, but if you all think he was more of a 'genius' than layne then you should all go out and listen to Dirt or Jar Of Flies.

That's true but alice in chains never had a "smells like teen spirit"
so the rest of the world never discovered them and so nirvana took all the attention but it's not necesserally(spelling) a bad thing because aleast anyone who listens to alice in chains actually apriciates them unlike a lot of nirvana fans who just listen to them because all their friends do

i have read up on the suicide, if read newspaper articles, ive read teh autobiography, and ive just read his journals.

he did kill him self, his stomach pains werent all his life, they didnt start untill after he got chucked out of his house at the age of 15.

before then he was perfectly healthy and smoked pot and drank, but nothing harder.

throughout his life he od'd numerous times and survived them, but reading through the biography you know how much kurt loved courtney and how much she loved him, he killed himself because he loved her and frances bean far too much. he loved them so much and he hated himself for being the junkie he was, and didnt want to **** up courtneys or frances' life, so he got out of thier way the best way he could. he wrote a suicide note, he wrote one in rome and 2 weeks later he wrote one in seattle.
    courtney, DIDNT kill him

also, the case wasnt opened and closed far too quickly.
if you read the biography, the case lasted for 8 weeks, with interviews and the such to determine the exact casue of death.

true he had a ****load of heroin in him, but heroin isnt instant, its fast, but not instant, he could have had time to life that gun and shot himself before the heroin kicked in enough to turn him into a vegetable

i am a huge kurt fan, not becuase of what he accomplished in his life, but for his courage, and his will to fight against adversary.

he had no where to live for periods of his life, and he wasnt afraid to write about what he felt. he wrote lyrics that would be scathing to his family and friends, but most people just didnt understand them fully, reading the biography, you do understand the lyrics

    lyrics like
'i tried hard to have a father, but i only had a dad' - serve the servants

'that legendary divorce is such a bore' - serve the servants

and 'im so happy, becuase today i found my friends, thier in my head' - lithium, a reference to his childhood imaginary friend bhodda

he had a twisted mind, and frankly i dont blame him, he had a ****ty upbringing, and his mind was twisted. that correlation should be obvious to most ppl.

kurt was a king amongst men,
    a pillar against adversity
and one heck of a ****in artist!

RIP kurt, i hope where you are now, is better than where you where here

Nirvana were punk...kurt even said so himself...grunge was just a name journalists came up with to categorise the sound which nirvana ripped off from mudhoney which was punk...isn't it funny? nirvana ripped off mudhoney and the pixies and then legions of kids ripped off nirvana and people said it was like a second coming for punk only they had labeled it grunge...oh the irony...
