    BT CUTS BROADBAND RATE

BT is to cut its broadband wholesale prices, some by as much as 55%.

The dominant fixed-line telecoms operator is taking on competition from cable operators.

It was cutting the wholesale price for services aimed at individual consumers by up to two pounds from £14.75, and for services aimed at small businesses by over 50%, it said.

It is not clear how the price cuts will filter down to the end users since BT sells the service to Internet providers such as AOL and Freeserve.
