So about 2010, when the more pessimistic scientists predict that oil, for the purposes of transport and power, will run out, what are the bets we see an outcry about human rights violations in Zimbabwe? I can just see the headlines - 'Zimbabwean guards ousted, US race for Harare' and this time, they buy South Africa.

The regime Zimbabwe has the unique distinction of drawing the ire of Peter Tatchell and the Tory party. The ruling party literally stole the election and the West did nothing much except a token shrug and protest. Still, France has shown it's usual solidarity with tyrants by recently inviting Mugabe to an African summit.

Mugabe was there as of right, he wasn't specially invited.

Yes, because as we've seen with Iraq, sanctions and exclusion work very well.

Also, as we've seen with China, inclusion and encouragement only make things worse.
