Comreg may be lining up LLU Price Cuts

    ....by refusing to set a long term price for LLU going forward.

    Comreg have issued 3 publications on interconnect offerings and LLU offerings insofar as they apply to Eircom as the main operator.

    Perhaps the committee (or Una McGirr , Director Of Communications , ESAT BT Group PLC, Grand Canal Dock , Dublin 2 aka Aggie ) would like to comment on their reading of the tea leaves therein.

    They have been setting the LLU rates on a yearily basis for a while haven't they. I wouldn't read anymore into it, then the COMREG wanting to keep flexibility in the market, to be able to respond with price changes quickily (not necessarily decreases, they may make an agreement with eircom to fund investment for instance etc).

    If this while nasty hocking telephone bill revenue deal goes through, and eircom manage to pressure the regulator to increase prices to allow infrastuctural investment, god only knows what the LLU changes will look like ...
