They are just weeding out the chancers that haven't paid their bills.
No one is losing their job over this.

No one is losing their job over this.

They may actually have increased their staff in Waterford recently.

Has anyone done the math on NTL and their claims in the Press Release that RTÉ reported.

    NTL have 368,000 'Customers'

25,000 are chancers, agreed, that makes 343,000 'Customers'

38,000 are Digital and 305,000 are Analogue after the chancers are weeded out.

There are no digital MMDS customers.

Prices (ex Vat) For Basic Packages Are!

Basic Digital Package Cable = €9.50

Basic Analogue Package Cable = €14.05

Basic Analogue Package MMDS = €19

So Average Revenue Per User assuming they ALL have Basic Packages Only and Having Already Removed the Chancers Is as follows.

    ((38,000 * 9.50)+(305,000*14.05)/343,000) = €13.54

Yet NTL Claim their monthly AVERAGE REVENUE PER USER IS €12.38 in the Press Release.

WTF , are there more chancers to weed out then lads?

I have heard from reliable sources that NTL in Ireland only collect recurring revenue from c.225,000 customers despite their grossly inflated claims as to the size of their customer base. Another handful pay intermittently.

Could it be that the prices include VAT (which would be correct) and that the revenue does not include VAT (also correct)?

    All figures Quoted excluded VAT

Having weeded out the chancers, NTL claim to have

    343,000 'Real' Customers.

See page 13 of The Comreg Quarterly Report March 2003 which is based on data from NTL Chorus and Casey Cablevision ONLY . See page

NTL say in their Annual report that:
    NTL have 368,000 'Customers'

    25,000 are chancers,that makes 343,000 'Customers'
38,000 are Digital and 305,000 are Analogue after the chancers are weeded out.

Comreg say in their March Report that:
All Operators Have 552,000 'Customers (meaning Chorus are under 200,000 no matter how you count the NTL figures)
There are 337,000 Digital TV subscribers including SKY customers.

NTL have 10% of the Digital TV Market with 38,000.
Chorus , God Knows as nobody else does. , lets assume 25,000 .

Digital capable cable is a limited precursor to Broadband.

I wonder if NTL tell Comreg one thing and then tell their shareholders another.....which would be naughty.

Assuming all taking basic services only - reality is that people also view PPV ( frontrow etc ) and premium services. Lots of these are available on analogue as well as digital - there also are a few cable modem users out there so it does all add up.

Probably goes some way to the ARPU figure.....not going down the Super Bunny Úna road here...Muck is too sharp!!
