Yeah that is a very good instrumental, one of my favorites. I've been getting very lazy these days so I figured I'd just say Satriani and Vai!

    That's an über-class song IMO.

Also like the beginning of Iron Maiden's Phantom of the Opera (from the old Lucozade advert).

ELP - Fanfare for the Common Man

As used in the Smirnoff/Dolphin advert that's on now. One of the all time classic instrumentals. And before the metalheads get started on me, have a listen to the bands that influenced your current crop of rock/metal bands and notice the hammond organ evident in most of them (the good ones at least :) )

i knew that, but since i have never heard of that band, i just posted some good instrumentals

to live is to die has a few lines of muffled vocals so technically that doesn't count, even though it is a masterpiece ;)

Alexi's voice rules, why would you want an instrumental version lol
their new album sounds a bit too pop for my tastes, I haven't bought it yet :(

Metallica's s&m album was indisputablely their best work and mark oldfield is the greater genius (excluding Kurt Cobain)
Therefore, even if you haven't got enough intellligence to appreciate good music, don't make your ignorance obvious by posting about stuff you haven't got a clue about, - maybe you'd be beter off going to the top 30 hits forum

I wouldent put S&M down as there best work but everyonw to there own. Did have some cool versions of songs though.

Yeah Call of Ktulu on S&M, absolutely rocking compared to the RtL version with the symphony behind it.

If it counts, I'd also add Van Halen's 1984 track. Very short, but definitive 80s.

And while on the topic, Jan Hammer's Crockett's Theme is fantastic.

    Yes I am old.
