Ive already replied to the other thread on this topic.
I can find ABSOLUTELY NO PROOF that this happened anywhere at anytime.
I saw maiden at all their Irish gigs including the Northern ones and this did not happen at any of them.If it had happened Im sure that there would be a review somewhere about it in the media.Ive checked all the archives in the local and national papers and can find nothing.
It seems to be a bit of an urban legend now.
    Richie.

From the rumours I heard it's because they got treated like utter crap when they came here and vowed never to bother coming back. Can't say I'd be surprised if it was true, but it's something to be ashamed of if it's true.

Bruce dickinson did indeed burn a tri-colour. It was back in the late 80's after the IRA had bombed mainland Britian. The inciddent didn't happen in Ireland or up the North. As far as i know it happened somewhere in the UK. They wouldn't have the balls to do it here. I've no proof that it happened but i know that it did. But Maiden have played here since. Didn't they once play the point?

Megadeth did something simlar too. While in Belfast Dave Mustaine dedicated a song to the cause. Needless to say they got booed and pelted off stage. But at lease they proved they had balls.

I think you'll find that Britain is still as much an island as Ireland.

Not into maiden after that? Anyone remember Irelands answer to em?

    CELTIC LEGACY

great stuff, Maiden with a touch of traditional Irish motiffs.

Francie how do you know it happened????????You say it did but you`ve no proof.

Proof is what we`re looking for here.Ive checked every where I could think of and still cant find proof. And if it did happen back in the 80s.Why did they play a few gigs here after that.Surely if they were warned about the alleged incident then they would never have ever played here.
I saw them twice in the point a few years back and they seemed to enjoy the Irish fans support.
So no more "yes it did happen cos so and so saw it" We need solid proof!!!!!!!Surely there should be a newspaper report on this incident somewhere.I cant find it but maybe someone else can if it happened at all.
    Richie.

No actually, they were playing in the heart of protestant Belfast, when some guys down the back of the place was selling Megadeth t-shirts for "the cause". Mustaine had been drunk (and probably high on something) and he got pissed off with what they were doing, so he started saying "Give this country back to Ireland" etc. He had bottles and more thrown at him and the band had to be driven out of Belfast in an armoured police van.

    Good old Mustaine! :D
