It's about how loads of people are out to screw the insurance companies by lodging false or hugely inflated claims. It will also have footage taken by P.I.'s of people doing stuff they claimed they couldn't do, and that's why they're claiming, just like America's dumbest criminals.

Most annoying thing is that the insurance co's paid up anyway to avoid going to court

The name and shame by the council in Tralee is a fine idea. Since its public money that they pay out its the public right to know.

BRASS NECK! are the two words that sum up these chancers, a 2 million claim for a woman who was "totally
incapacicated" but who could also drive and shop with her young child (in a pram). Meanwhile small and medium sized buisness' are going bust as employer and public liability costs go through the roof.

Good to see companies now taking on claimants with
    surveillance.

Name and shame is the way forward as the council guy said its not name and shame its name...any shame is in the eye of the beholder....

    Mike.

I had no idea its was so easy to get away with bogus claims in Ireland, even when faced with video evidence they get money, it just defy's logic!

As the amounts paid out, they're just as outragous, 10000 for a flesh wound WTF!! and kid who triped and got 3000, that's crap. No perment damage no reward I say.

In my opinion the legal system is one of the main problems.

    Example:

If a guy comes into your house to rob you and your ... lets say doing up the kitchen and he trips and falls and hurts himself bad. He can claim against you even though he had no right to be there in the first place and even the fact that he was there breaking the law and trying to rob you of your hard earned posetions. The prob is that he can do that and even worse is that the odds are in his favor.

Thats why I belive the legal system in this country only helps there people.

Sadly I missed it but I really hope they show it again. The whole compo culture is getting out of control and something really needs to be done to stop these scumbags from getting away with it.

Every time I turn on the radio I hear one of the "Its your right to claim" ad's trying to drum up business. Society today is turning into a cess pool of lying creating scumbags.

I asked a phsiotherapist about this and her answer was that even if she knows that a patient is lying through their teeth about the amount of pain they are in, if they say it hurts and their hand cant move rah rah then thats what the report shows.

I for one dont understand why places where you undertake a dangerous sport say or something that might cause you an injury cant ask people to sign disclaimers against injury. I think it's pure fúcking dumb that someone goes horse riding, falls off because their trying to show off and claims for a broken leg?? WTF is that all about? As far as I understand it such disclaimers dont hold water in the Irish judicial system which is a pity because it might just lower the cost of insurance.

As for the guy breaking into your house, a loose term called "reasonable force" can be applied to these situations. It's how a guard would say "We used reasonable force to apprehend the suspect; his toe mysteriously got broke though.." The same applies to civilians, however it's down to the cop and a court of law to decide whether you used due or undue force to stop someone knicking your gear.

One thing in all of this sticks out like a sore thumb to me. Insurance companies are always bleating on that a very large proportion of the cost of a premium is taken up by legal fees. If nearly all insurers pay out without going to court, where the fúck do the legal fees come in?

    K-

This is what I was telling you before in a discussion on the high prices in outlets in Ireland.

As regards companies taking on the cases themselves, it's only the bigger ones like supermacs who can afford to do that at the moment. I would love to see some sort of organisation forming of smaller outlets where everyone chips in appropriate fees so the organisation could take on cases for whoever needs them. They seem to think that this is saving them money.

I would gladly sign up to such an organisation, maybe people are waiting to see how supermacs and co. get on first.
