An interesting site. I'll look around more when my brain stings slightly less (seperate issue).

One thing that puzzled me was their definition of a terrorist as "a freedom fighter we disagree with". If this is so, then either there are no Islamic fundamentalist terrorists or an oppressive extremist regime is freedom, for that is what they are fighting for.

I hope everyone agrees both claims are nonsense.

Depends on your definition of freedom.

It does depend on your idea of freedom but you would have to have a pretty f*cked up idea of freedom to want to live in an islamic state (particularly as a female... or were we only talking about freedom for men :) )

Usually "freedom" for one person often means restraint for several others...

    DeV.

Yep. I'd be against that too, even though I'm a Christian.

Secular states are the only way to ensure freedom of faith.

NooooooO, freedom or "freedom fighting" has nothing to do with it.............. Terrorism is fundamentally about imposing the will of a (usually) miniscule minority with a certain agenda (leftist or rightist) upon the majority population who are quite content with the status quo thru intimidation, fear, and terror. They (the terrorists) have little regard or respect for your opinion or view......... theirs is the "politics" of The End Justifies Any Method. Your life and your freedom is a non-sequiteur in their analysis of of human/politico destiny.

Please God, spare us from these proto-terrorists (oftenmost 2nd year BA students chilling out on a History/Philosophy module on Dad's middle-class funding of their Put The World To Right immaturity.) We, the working class, wanna live out our unfilfilled and shallow lives in peace without threat and terror.
Won't get fooled again. THE WHO.

I got to agree with Pro 8,

Freedom Fighter implies a certain amount of Romance and western idealism. The iraqis appear to be motivated by Nationalism and Patriotism in the face of Invasion.
Not to mention a fear of Instabillity and retribution from the Peshmerga and other groups, should the Iraqi Government cease to function effectively.
The iraqis experience of the last full civil war was not plesent and i doubt anyone would want to see a repeat of the 1950s violence.

I prefer to use to term Partisan which is a lot less politically charged than either Terrorist/Freedom Fighter. And seems to fit the tactics being currently appplied by sadamns forces.
