MTV's ban on videos

    MTV have banned certain video containing anti war imagery i.e. U2's Ms Sarajevo.

    Is MTV just another American propaganda machine.

    Yeah theve banned all vidios with a war or political connection its a pity as i wanted to see what System of a down new vidio was like not that im a massive fan but its directed by micheal moore. Theve also banned all vidios of "political bands" like manic's and RATM even ones withouit a political message.I dont think this indicates mtv has sold out as this would imply it still had any credabiliaty to lose. Its not like they play any vidios anyway how they can get away with calling the station Music TV as there is no actual music on it just repeats of crapy shows like osbournes and jackass

    a bit of an over reaction from MTV. i think i will watch the EMAP channels and listen to cd's instead. they are a load of morons

    RATM arent banned, which is a surprise considering the lyrics of their songs...

    In fairness to MTV they dont seem to have just decided to do this off thier own bat. The ITC is quite a powerful body in the UK, better than anything we have here, so they really have no choice but to remain within thier guidelines. It does seem to be a little kneejerk tho. You can bet your bottom dollar that every other station has a policy similar to this but only MTV take the rap because of thier image.

    Because MTV image is one of anti establishment, generation x etc.
