We should probably continue on.. i hate to leave something unfinished!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,339 ✭✭✭✭LoLth

definitely continue on. But I do think we have missed some clues and some areas (you have no idea how tempted I was to dl the module and open it in the toolset! ... but I resisted). I think we should go back and re-explore. for example, where does that portal in the temple go? what were the gems and the statues for? What else is in the maze? etc.

we sort of stumbled into the final room without checking everything else first.

So load the save game or restart the module ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,389 ✭✭✭✭Saruman

No load saved... no point doing it again.. we were pretty far through it... unless you want to load our characters as they were at start of module... otherwise i dont see the point.. just load the save.

    yeah, load the save.

Hopefully someone in the gorup hasn't visited the merchant and we can get him/her to buy a ton of healing kits :)

well, there was a good bit left to explore.

unfortunately, we think someone not present had the plot item needed to complete the quest
(by getting to the barge and retrieving the star of mo-pelar)
    .

There were absolutely zero clues as to what had to be done, and once in the final chamber we couldnt leave
(personally I think it should not have let us into the chamber without the item to get to the barge to get the star which along with the rod opens the portal to exit by).

Also, secret doors were a pain. Cerano couldnt see them, at all, even when we went through them, boosted his lore (you still have my ring of insight btw) and held them open. The secret doors were essential to the quest too. If it were single player, Cerano would have been unable to complete the quest.

A few more entries in the quest log would have been nice.

It was fun though, some excellent traps and puzzles. Some really good fights, and the town of silvervale ahd some nice equipment. (pity we didnt go there in the beginning when we had the loot from the dunwich adventures).

keeping with the 1st ed scenario re-furnished theme...

    how about:

    http://nwvault.ign.com/Files/modules/data/1044116422130.shtml

lvls 5-8, 1-4 players, 4-5 hours. Ghost tower of Inverness, largely hailed as one of the best 1st ed modules and a prequel to the lost isle of catanimir.....
has a large hak file included in the zip, download about 4mb,

or if we want to get away from it all:

    http://nwvault.ign.com/Files/modules/data/1045123401139.shtml

gates of myth drannor, by abbadon (a well known scripter seemingly), lvls 5-10, 1-5 players, 4-9 hours gameplay. Has a small hak file in the download (cloaks.hak).
    Download total is 2.76 mb.

4 meg large :) I take it you havent patched any games recently.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,339 ✭✭✭✭LoLth

sorry, too used to dl'ing them in work and transferring them to CD for home use.

gates of myth drannor is a 2.8mb download, the hak is less than one meg, the scenario itself is 12mb unpacked.

The Inverness one is a 4 mb download, the hak is 7mb (3.5mb zipped) and the scenario is 5.7mb unzipped.

is there somewhere I could mirror the hak for myth drannor so everyone can have easy access?

I'll have a look for a smaller mod. But we're running out of good rated ones!

    found one!

    http://nwvault.ign.com/Files/modules/data/1029387285530.shtml

tallanavors pride, 5hours gameplay (minimum seemingly), levels 8-10, 1-3 players - we had 4 last night so this should be ok. level should be fine (recommends 6th for multiplayer).

No hak pack, total download size - 0.72 mb

    tadaaa :)

or, if another classic PnP conversion is required,

    http://nwvault.ign.com/Files/modules/data/1028218726282.shtml

tomb of the lizard king. levels 6-8, 1-5 players, 3-4 hours gameplay, 0.42 mb download :)

(I am downloading castle spulzeer as we speak, 29mb download, but includes a user manual etc, so I'll see about trimming that down a bit).

ok, last post... honest, will have to do some work.

    http://nwvault.ign.com/Files/modules/data/1027794287049.shtml

huge campaign one seemingly 36-40 hours gameplay. suits up to 20th level, respawn areas, can be used as a PW server if wanted.

    1.44mb download :)

right, me off to do some work before I go to lunch!

    anyone got a preference?

If it's one with a hak we need to decide and give everyone time to download (bc and lomir, I can pu t the modules onto CD for you if you dont have access/time yourselves).

on a side note, anyone got any ideas how to get around the auto install exe's some of the scenarios are packed in?

Restinford looks good (the last one you posted!)

Though it does say you want to be very tough for the boss.. then again we have not had a boos to fight in a while!
you still have my ring of insight btw
:D:D:D Yeah i was going to give it back to you last time but something happened before i did the barter that distracted me.. i think you came is and dungeon master and teleported me out. Forgot about it after that, i was not even using it as i put back on whatever right i awas using before.. i think it was just a ring of cyan to give me light.

well, I downloaded castle spulzeer but it's an exe installation. However, the lovely author sent me a link to his FTP site with a zip installation. 40mb hak file, 7mb scenario file. (total zipped download is 25mb)

If anyone wants to give it a go, I can post CDs to peeps that dont want to download that much and Rev can either use the link to the FTP site (I'll PM it) or I can send it to you too :)

ps. yes I now realise that Rev was being sarcastic about the 4mb filesize... I completely missed that yesterday. doh!

Yea send me the link and I'll get it on the server.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,346 ✭✭✭Rev Hellfire

ok castle spulzeer is on the server.

is this what you're going for tonight ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 710 ✭✭✭BattlingCheese

I'll get it downloaded in work Lolth, just supply the link for Rev.
If I don't get around to it I can meet you somewhere in Celbridge and get it off you.

I've mirrored the hak pak, which is all u need to play online, comes in at around 20meg.

    links etc here

    thanks rev.

we're a tiny bit too low for it at the moment but it should be fun... perhaps you could put up tomb of the lizard king for tonight, ot give the players time to download the hak?

Tomb of the lizard king, lvl 6-8

should be only a one night session and fairly straight forward too :) (bandits...lizards..evil stuff..kill..kill etc.)

    .
    .
just to make it clear though, we are only about a level to a level and a half too low for this. If we take our time, play sensibly (as in cover each other liek we had to do in the pharoah mod) we should be fine. It will also make it important to do as many sub quests as possible to get the xp.
    .
    .
Saruman, I would say that the restinford module would be better as a PW mod on the main server. it's a bit big for campaign play (plot items etc).

    got both downloaded Lolth

I've put up the lizard module. This will give ppl who mightnt have time to get the hak pak for the other module, so taht can be next.

    thanks rev :)

ps. I saw that smurf smut you posted on darkkeep... I am no longer innocent!

unfortunately, we think someone not present had the plot item needed to complete the quest

Sry lads that was probably me. Completely forgot about quest items sry.

Was getting a bit worried bout that 20 meg hak. Lizard king mod should be fun and itll give me time to dwnload that hak
