The other day I went to make a call on my phone. When I dialled the number I wanted I got "you do not have sufficient credit...". I didn't know why I got it as I had €12 credit, so I dialled again. Same thing. Type in the code *#100# and it says no credit. I rang meteor and told them that €12 was taken of my account. The guy on the phone typed in my number and told me I made a 1 hour 30 mins call the night before. I knew myself I didn't but he wasn't listening to me, so I hung up.

Then I realised, a friend of mine had rang me for that length, so I rang meteor to tell them. The number matched but meteor insisted "I" made the call. At this stage I got put through to technical support. So, what happened?

Well, because "I" diverted the call I must have been roaming?!? It so happened that my phone was not working, so I diverted all calls to my landline. At this stage, my mate rang me. Apparently when she calls me, my phone makes a call to my other number?!? So, that means that she paid €12 to ring me and I paid an extra €12 for me to ring me? Total cost €24.

"Both" calls were within Ireland, yet it qualifies as roaming? I was raging and told meteor that I had visited the north 4 times this year and not once could I use my phone.

After a lengthy call, I got nowhere.

    How is this fare?

Isn't that call divert, not roaming? And based on what you said, the charging was right, even if it wasn't fair.

It's all in the small print probably. When your phone diverts, it does make another call to the diverted number. Which is why not having your phone on unconditional divert when roaming can be very expensive - the caller is charged for ringing you, and you get charged for an international call for the length of time that the caller is on.

As for your predicament, that's a bit crap. Vodafone (and I assume O2 too) charge a flat rate (15c I think) for normal diverts, and the length of the call comes up on the bill.

Eh... is this not normal? I mean if you divert your landline to another phone number YOU still get charged for the call too!! In other words.. DONT DIVERT! I dont see the point.

It is! But because it's not the Meteor network, I'm roaming? That's what they said!
All it takes is a bit of cop on.

Of course, why didn't I assume that I would have to pay for my friend to call me?!?
    I dont see the point.

My oh-so-wonderful Meteor phone was broken!

Would it not just be fair to charge my friend the cost of a mobile to landline?
