Kgen Crashing...

This is really annoying... sometimes when I start Kgen... it just freezes when I select (load ROM), and I have to terminate the program and restart the PC if I want to play with it! Any tips:

I have:

PIII 850Mhz
19GB HD
Windows ME
64Mb RAM...

Gens is the best. The blurry filtering **** it does to the pixels is an aquired taste though. You might want to try Genecyst too.

It is the best emu! (Gens)

It even plays roms which i thought were corrupt (Bonanza Brothers, 6-in1).

Yeah Kgen is rather fussy about what roms it plays.

Eh, what version of Gens are ye all using?

I'm on version 1.91 and I have to say it's pretty dodgy. The sound is real grainy and I can't say I'm a big fan of the interface or the blurred graphics. I only use it for playing Speedball 2.

I mostly use Genecyst but since transferring my old pc files to the new one it won't recognise my Sidewinder.

Still keep a copy of kgen though as it's the only one that Strider seems to work on.

Why can't all emulators be as good as zsnes?

I'd download v2.11 then:) and ditch Kgen. For the true speedball2 experience get WinUAE and the Amiga .adf file

Ah, version 2.11 you say? I was wondering why everyone was giving Gens such a good write up.

As for your other suggestion, I've already done this but haven't but enough time into understanding WinUAE to get it working.

Do a search in this forum on WinUAE. Loads on info on how to get it running:) Most people have probs getting it working.

Actually Nemesis posted a topic about the problem I was having a few weeks ago, I searched for Kickroms but no luck so far...

Anyway, downloaded v2.11 and while it's a vast improvement Strider still doesn't work. :mad:

Ah well, guess somebody just doesn't want me to play that game with a joypad!

Thats strange...works for me. Open mIRC and join [url]irc://irc.quakenet.net/[/url] and then #emulation.ie
Will be able to help you out with GENS and WinUAE kickrom problem:)

If strider isnt working, you have a bad bad bad crc copy. Gens tends to like working with stuff that isn't totalled. I had a bad copy of strider many years ago, but i quickly got a correctly dumped one, which will work with any emu.
