That was a few hours old though. CNN and Irish Times Breaking news have nothing new to add. I have to say that I am surprised that Blair got backing from the Commons. It's not just muppets at the helm then.

***It's time to set the music, it's time to light the lights, it's time to bomb Iraq on the Muppet show tonight****

Has anyone read the figures as to what the US reckon a month long campaign will cost? Apparantly Bush is to tender a submission to congress seeking $90Bn for a short campaign on Friday. FFS, to me thats monopoly money, pardon the pun.

to make matters worse, i was talking to a friend today, who is american, and she is of the thought that America is correct to do what they are doing. Her line of defence was that the American army is THE best army in the world, there's an ad for carlsberg.

I agree that Hussain has something to answer, but who dictates that America has to be the one to bring him to Justice.

    To summerise this whole war.

    America attack
    Thousands of casualties and deaths
    Billions of wasted money
Huge PR campaigns on the tv/radio
    Thousands of casualties and deaths
    Sadam Hussain being defeated (again)
    Sadam Hussain not caught (again)
    and most importantly of all

    THOUSANDS OF CASUALTIES AND DEATHS.

    to put it bluntly
give a person a gun they may turn into a killer
give a person power they may turn into a leader
    but not in this case.

this is my thoughts, they may not be accurate but its how i feel on the whole thing.

When Will America get down off their high ethical horse and realise not everyone wants to be "saved" or "set free" and that just because these middle eastern countries don't embrace Western culture doen't mean there must be something wrong,Im Sure alot of starving Russians would gladly go back to the communist regime if it meant food on the table.

The same can be sayed for the 16 millions iraq's who are currently starving due to the U.N food supplies been pulled out of the country because of the impending war.Sure at the end of this War they mite be "free",but free to do what? starve to death and live in shelters due to American destroying every building in their country.

I dont think Blair has alot to answer for, Bush maybe, But do remember that Sadam has a history of being untrustworthy, and to be perfectly honest, I would sleep alot easier if alot of these countries didnt have weapons of mass destruction, cause at teh end of the day, they are essentially there to kill and destroy, look at hiroshima, unknown what the exact damage it could do, and u only have to read what the people there went through to know how horrible it could be,

I agree to disarmerment of saddam and also North Korea's nuclear facilitys, but not when other countries will bully them into submission. I think France has alot to answer for (The president, not the people)

Jaysus everyone seems to be an anti war hippy. Hippies are cool but some of these ones are annoying. I myself am pro-war. Not very common with others. Everyone is complaining about all the deaths in Iraq. Does anyone realise that Saddam is killing his people anyway. With the war, Saddam is likely to die and Iraq may become a better place for the people.

I would agree with the statement that Bush is in there for the wrong reasons, but whether by chance or not, I fell the right thing is bieng done.

Everyone is complaining about all the deaths in Iraq. Does anyone realise that Saddam is killing his people anyway.

This is very strange reasoning. By this do you mean that if someone is going to kill some members of a population, then by definition they are "doomed", and now somehow sub-human and it's open season for anyone with a missile or tank?

Saddam is one evil MF - he kills Iraqis - agreed.

If we kill them to achieve our own ends (even if our aims are "good and moral") then we are just as evil as Saddam.

a/ Either innocent human life is special and to take it is wrong.

    OR

b/ Innocent life can be taken as long as the "reasons" are good enough.

If you're arguing (b) then what you're really saying is that the US has better reasons to kill Iraqis than Saddam - what a lovely thought.

Or possibly this is a "Utilitarian" argument? At the end of the day the number killed by the UK/US will be less than Saddam would have killed anyway?

In response to davegirl, yes that's pretty sick and it shouldn't be happening. But they are all dying of starvation anyway. That is also a very painful death. The problem here is that those who are pro-war have decided to kill Saddam. All these anti-war people aren't providing an alternative to stopping him, so please, if you're so bloody sure on what the right thing isn't, please tell us what it is!
