    Of course.........they still belong to someone else, so its not a licencing round it is an invitation for an Expression of Interest for County xxx if you want the Narrowband.

    The long awaited 'formal' recall of Chorus FWPMA (Narrowband) licences drags on and on and on.......until the bitter end in 3 months I suspect because the lawyers are involved.. Then we can have a proper licencing round in which the Expression of Interest round will be discarded it seems while Comreg procedes to full FWPMA (Narrowband) licencing in the 3.5Ghz band.

    Meanwhile, Comreg announced that :

    1. They are about to re-issue the FWPMA (Broadband) licences they took off Formus and Chorus with bits taken of Eircom and ESAT too. These are 10Ghz and 26Ghz or so bands.

    2. That Comreg want to see Expressions of Interest on what Comreg should do with the Chorus bandwidth when it is taken off them in just under 3 months ..........hopefully sooner if you live anywhere but Limerick. This would be the FWPMA (Narrowband) bandwidth which was never fully issued (ISTR) in 2000 so I dunno why Comreg are implying it has been 'used up' like when they never issued all of it at the time.

    An Expression of Interest as Comreg charmingly put it should come from someone who has a plan to operate 3.5Ghz kit on a County by County basis. They cannot have a Competition for Choruses bandwidth while the lawyers are involved, nudge nudge.

    What happens if Chorus lash in an Expression of Interest for their 'own' bandwidth. Should we write directly to the culprits in the following format ?

    <snip here>

    Willie Fagan
    Director of Regulatory Affairs
    Chorus
    Roxboro Rd.
    Limerick

    Dear Mr Fagan

    Please accept my expression of interest in County Cavan .

    Consider yourself warned.

    Yours Sincerely

    Muck E. Person Esq.
