According to today's tribune - an Irish version of "Reborn in the USA" is planned - who should be included?

    I would go for:

    Cathal Coughlan (Microdisney)
The Guy from Sultans of Ping
    The Guy from the Adventurers
The Guy from the Whipping Boy
    Christy Hennessy
    Paul Cleary
    Gay Woods (Auto Da Fe)
    Dave Coarse (A House)
    Leslie Dowdall

    What do ye think?

I tell you what I think - That irish telly should stop
    re-heating other countries bad TV!

There would possibly be some amusment in seeing some
vaguely familair faces from the 80s and 90s sing for thier supper, but I'd much prefere to see the same format used on successful music stars.

maybe a couple of Boomtown Rats could be added to your list...

....and Brush Sheilds, in fact anyone who was on the Self-Aid stage in 1985. :D

    Mike.

I agree - Irish TV is buying formula TV. People that had 15 minutes of fame trying to get another 15 minutes of fame or those who are trying to get their first taste of fame.

TV3 has now more quality programmes than RTE. I think TG4 is the best Irish TV station.

But - I think the lead singer of Light a Big Fire would be great for a comeback.

There should be music programmes on RTE for Irish bands. Not manufactured pop but real music.

TG4 at least promotes trad. What has RTE for Irish rock music?

Seriously though, the "Songs From A Small Room" series on Network 2 has been excellent so far (in terms of putting Irish music on TV). The Frames, Damien Rice, Lisa Hannigan and Interferance have been on so far. Damien Dempsey tomorrow night.

    Not really.
Songs From A Small Room" series on Network 2

Nice series - but it is a pity it does not have a bit more rock music.

I am sure you ment quality British programmes from Itv. Coronation Street, Emmerdale, Reborn in the USA, Cold Feet and Heartbeat and the royal all have come together to bring tv3 closer to becoming ITV(tv3). 10 Hour of Simucast, (Should I mention Champions League). tv3 are just take over the role of UTV. And the American output gets worse.

In relation to reborn in the usa Ireland. Who is going to produce it when TV3 have the rights. Unlike that TV3 will, I mean lets face it Ireland AM is the most successful Morning Show. I watch it all the time.

TG4 has Rianta (Dance Music) and Pop TV.

Since i am on the rant againist TV3. What does it promote?? ITV.
