It was from the early 80's and had a post apocolypse / sci-fi feel to it. I can't remember anything about the actual film itself (plot etc) other than that in one scene a guy was being burnt at the stake with a flamethrower as punishment for some crime and in final scene the hero of the movie comes up against the baddies leader and ends up tearing at his face to accidentally reveal that the guy was a robot rather than a human.

Yeah, I know it's not much to go on but I thought it might ring a bell for someone? It's literally been bugging me for about 20 years now! :(

Would it be 'Cyborg' with Jean Claude Van Damme?

Cant remember anything about it myself but it was post apocalyptic and (wouldyabelieve!) had a cyborg in it :p

Would have been late 80's though

I don't think so? I'm pretty sure I saw it on video around 1984 so it'd be at least 1-2 years older than that.

Sounds like Cyborg to me also...

Was the lead character guarding a woman throughout the film?
Because if so, it's defenitly Cyborg.
    And if not, I'm stumped.

I also think it was Cyborg. The heros brother was burned at the beginning, IIRC...

Was the guy who got burnt in Cyborg tied to a pole whilst someone shot at him with a flamethrower? Also was this scene outside during the daytime because the one I'm talking about was.

    Tell you what, Pigman.

Go rent Cyborg. You should be able to get it from some cheapo rental place for a euro or two. And even if its not the film you're thinking of, you'll still have seen a classic peice of 80's rubbish sci-fi.

A.W., I think I'll pass. JCVD isn't one of my fav actors to begin with and I'm sure my film is pre 1989 at the very least.

does the cyborg one you are taking about have a bit in it where jcvd's (character as a teenager) parents are wieghted down and left hanging in a well and the only way to save them is if jcvd's character can hold them up (from falling down into the well) with a 'rope' of barbed wire..... that description is a bit scattered but so is my memory, espically today.

Like I mentioned, those two scenes are the only things I remeber from the film. But rest assured It's not Cyborg.

Dunno the post apocalyptic setting coupled with cyborgs sounds like Mind Ripper

Sorry for digging up this old thread (I definetly deserved a gathering card I suppose)

but I was wondering if anyone has seen this film -> http://www.stomptokyo.com/badmoviereport/reviews/E/eliminators.html

as I think it might be the one I've been looking for. Perhaps someone who has seen it could confirm if the scenes mentioned at the top of this thread are indeed in the film featured in this post.

    Thanks!
