Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Theres alot of crap on our board to be honest. If it wern't for the locking of threads by Mordeth there would be more well done so far. What about spreading the word someway, a trickle more people are joining every week but everybody in the college sits in front of a pc at some stage during the day, apart from the Sigs and some other ****e, we are dicussing some good topics. Locking the tread about the canteen would not be a good idea in my opinion. Anybody else any opinions about this ? I dunno maybe the board becoming general knowledge would lead to it gettin Border Manager forbidden !!! especially with talk of Guest accounts, Kazza etc.

In all fairness though. If hotmail and newgrounds etc. haven't been this shouldn't be. If it is there should be a student protest. God knows there's enough of us!

I think the board is a great thing:)
Alot of people wouldnt talk otherwise and it also gives u numbers for stuff like gettin the canteen sorted out, which I agree is vile even compared to work canteens and way more expensive,
But I do think that some people should be a little more carefuil in what they say as anybody could end up reading the posts

To be honest, most people dont know there is an IT Carlow board or even know that Boards.ie itself exists. In a college with 4000 students, Im sure this it would be massive if more knew about it. I personally think the board is a fantastic idea, well done to all involved.

I have to say i think the board is great, it keeps stutents informed but agree that more students need to hear about it, maybe a few words in the blurb??

B4 you do remember wot i said about it gettin banned !!!!!!!!
The policy is that the computers are for educational purposes, just bacause they have made an exception of web based e-mail doesn't mean that will happen for a forum. Maybe word of mouth would be better ????????

    agreed!
I don't know what i would do all day if Boards.ie was banned

boards.ie is a pretty good education resource... plenty of technology board,s programming, hardware, net/comms ... perfect boards for IT students :)

besides people do a lot worse **** than visit boards on the computers in the it, a lot more than just web based email.

Yea but the users of those sites aern't considering taking out an ad. in the college "paper" . Plus you'd be suprised how some of the treads on this forum would prove more of a problem to some administration heads than other things.

The students union seem to think that boards.ie is a good thing. I'm sure the techs could be convinced of it's educational value

"Convinced" eh?? and how much is that gonna cost us?

seriously though. i will put it inthe Blurb myself if ye like. after all, i threw my ex-girlfriend into the fountain and documented it in the Blurb. she wasn't impressed! so i did it again.

so if ye want it in the blurb, no prob.
but if ye think it might bring unwanted attention.(do techies read the Blurb?)

    hrm.

well I'm not too sure about this, first of all putting it in the blurb will prob bring more people here, which is probably a good thing (not from my pov of course, more of you damn students to patrol over). but it will probably also bring this place into the techs l.o.s.

it's not as if boards.ie will make people study less anyway, if they are going to use the computers for non-educational purposes they can do other things rather than come here, at least this place will be a forum for carlow IT students to discuss things..

    i'm undecided :)

    A) I've used boards multiple times for Educational purposes and its also a source of philosophical or theoretical discussion.

    B) The techies already know about boards.ie as one of my posts was brought to fergals attention by someone and they tried to ban it at one point until we asked them nicely not to.

    C) it will however bring alot more people here which again will result in spam, flaming muppetry and probably also bring to the attention of alot of people of compsoc.

    D) I'm not sure I'm comfortable with alot more people knowing of my nerdiness (like they don already know...)
