Next Easter Weekend the first MegaLAN will be hosted in the RDS. With 150 gaming slots on our BYOC (Bring your own computer) 100mbs, switched network, the event will be the biggest of its kind ever held in Ireland. This is a LAN you will not want to miss.

    Venue:
    RDS
    Date: 19th April - 21st April
    Cost: €60
    Seats: 150 BYOC
    Registration: 11am - 1pm 19th April
    Schedule: 19th April: 11am - Midnight
    20th April: 10am - Midnight
    21st April: 10am - 6pm.

What we didnt tell you on the front page

Megalan's purpose is to continually put on LAN events that are bigger and better than any predecessing events of a similar nature. It is our intention to always grow. To always imporve and to ensure a better quality of LAN as well as to increase the volume of participants.

Everyone involved in MegaLAN is part of our team because of the their experience, their skillz and a proven track record.

If you have been to a BYOC event before you will be familiar with most of the stuff that will be going on leading up to the event. If you haven't ever been to a BYOC event, sign up quick You can't accuratly compare the experience of being at a cafe LAN with being at an event like MegaLAN...

So in summary come if you want, dont if you dont. If you do you will have a great time. If you dont, you'll probably wish you had. Certainly after the fact....but it'll be too late then...

Just trying to draw attention to this huge lan which is going to be on in a matter of days (42 at time of writing). I'd advise everyone to sign up as it will be a damn good time for all...

    Ivan

Ps. Dont move this thread, its not off topic - its to draw attention of Carlow IT people who are too busy writing on the carlow IT board to actually realise that boards.ie is a rather large and fullfilling place.

150 gaming slots ...100mbs, switched network

    well lets see. 100Mbps / 150 = 0.66Mbps per person. that's about 80K per person.average.sounds pretty crap to me.

I won't be going, but is that speed good enough for that many people playing games?

    100Mbps / 150 = 0.66Mbps per person

That would only be the case if the network was based on shítty hubs (Something you won't see at MegaLan). A well set up switched network will give perfectly good performance for that many people.
