    The candidate will be a master of Linux systems administration and a fluent user of Unix and/or Linux·

    Familiar with systems tuning and how hardware is chosen to meet application and supportability requirements. ·

    Understanding the many aspects of the Linux operating system, including paging and swapping, devices and what device drivers do, inter-process communication, filesystem concepts (inode, clustering, logical partitions, journaling, mirroring), fundamental networking and distributed computing environment concepts, LAN routing concepts, client/server programming concepts, the design of consistent network-wide filesystem layouts, configuration of NFS and NIS, using nslookup or dig to check information in the DNS. ·

    Able to write or present proposals ·

    Completely comfortable working with vendors, customers, or upper management.·

    Mature experience of at least 10 years with a basic grounding in application development, including the ability to write and build C or C++ programs and libraries (both shared and static). ·

    Familiar with the Open Source movement, ·

    Using and supporting typical tools such as CVS, Perl, Bash/Ksh, Parted, and the GNU compiler suite.·

    Solid people skills are a must, including the ability to work harmoniously in a team and the ability to self-motivate without marginalizing the viewpoints of others. ·

    Microsoft tools including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft FrontPage, and Microsoft Outlook.

    also nice to have would be -

    · Knowledge of E&P technical applications, administration experience with the Sun Solaris operating system (version 8 or later),·

    Administration experience with Citrix Metaframe for Windows and/or Metaframe for Unix·

    Knowledge of middleware such as Corba and Oracle·

    Project management skills or the ability to lead teams·

    Skills in business development or the politics of influencing organizational change·

    Experience developing IT services, particularly global services, Unix/Linux security, network security, LDAP directory service·

    Service Development process and procedures ·

    Security·

    Directory Services



    job is 3 month contract, could turn out longer, in holland.
