Id love to see the wee buggers back in action, they were great craic to laugh at, their bikes were just so damn cool!

Also, we need an army of short fellows in 40k, grots just dont cut it :)

You've obviously never felt the thrill of seeing a mob of grots take down a squad of twice their value...

I kinda think they'd be a cool addition to the universe again, but only if the models were seriously updated...

    WAN TEH SQUATS.

Ive seen a grot squad kill Marneus Calgar, and I think he is worth about 50 grots.... :D
Their just totally useless 90% of the time.

Go on the Die hard Gretchin.

Seen one of the little green fellas take on a squad of terminators and win. He must have has a swiss army penknife or somthing.

My warboss' attack squig managed to hold up an assault squad of Dark Angels for two turns. Didn't kill any, but it seriously annoyed the DA player...

we need a few new armies in the 40k universe it will make the game more interisting and I'd love to see those land trains in 40k scale.

I suppose Squats could count as a new army at this stage...
We have the Necrons and the Tau as the newest.

GW seem to be concentrating more on defining subgroups of armies already out there like daemonhunters, the various chaos marine chapters, and Imperial guard armies (makes sense, a lot of the work's already done...)

Thing is, how do you come up with an army that's really new at this point? Just about every aspect of war has been covered, there probably aren't all that many unique blends of gameplay to choose from, I mean the orks/Tyranids for close combat, the Tau/Imperial guard for brute firepower, Eldar for fast-but-weak, Marines/necrons for all-rounders... What can they do that really adds something new to the game?

Theres no team which truely relies on small numbers of big, BIG meanies, Id like to see a team where the base troop costs near to 50points, for the sheerbruteness of it, an army totally above scale with all units having multiple wounds. Would be an interesting twist fighting an army who you out number 3 or 4 to 1 but yet still fear your going to get wiped.

I can see it now an Orgyn Army. ouch

    That would rock......... but ouch.

    Interesting.:)

Yes, that would be a really interesting scenario, a bit like the Iyanden Ghost army but even fewer numbers, yes?

the squat models with exo skeleton armour on (or whatever) were my favourite models ever

wouldnt make any damn sense. evolutionary benefits of being a little short fatteh with a beard? exactly HOW does a dwarf get pusseh? the only reason the imperium doesnt get rid of ogryns is cos theyre big n scary but little shorty mutants... exterminatus. Although if they do make em, get sum in leather gimp suits, midgets in leather....amusing :)

By that logic, why do they bother with dwarves in Warhammer fantasy? Evolutionary advantages include being tough as a boot sandwich, impressively strong, and technologically advanced. And having a near godlike tolerance of alcohol...

Perhaps they should count as an Imperial Guard sub-regiment or something? The 3rd edition 40K seems a lot more xenophobic than previous ones...

No way, a drunken and furious dwarf in a pub would rip through platoons of them nancies bare handed, with or without their lasguns, their useless either way :D

I won't hear a bad word said about Imperial Guardsmen, nor their 10 candlepower flashlights.

As regards the actual topic of this post:D , I'm sorta of a mixed opinion about the squats. It was a pretty sad effort on GW's part the way they got rid of them, (Mmm, tasty) but the whole space dwarfs evolved from humans idea was a bit weak to begin with. Although the Demiurg are apparently the real space dwarfs now, so who knows, in a few years maybe they will become a full army. I saw the concept sketch by jes Goodwyn that has been floating arount the internet for a while, and I have to say, it looked cool.
