I was thinking of making a lan box with the VIA EPIA M 9000 All In One Motherboard and use old hardware bits from my two year dell pc (p3 866mhz).

    bad idea or good idea

Isnt the Epia M 9000 fully integrated? Therefore you wont be using much bits from your old PC. The CPU is the real kicker tho, the VIA CPU onboard is slower than a Celeron 500. Not really LAN Box material.

A better idea would be a Shuttle SFF or Asus tiny box (Scan have them).
