Well apparently the US is bugging members of the UN Security Council if reports released in yesterdays Observer are to be believed.

This strikes me as very stange behaviour for the guardian of democracy. We all know about the pressures that the US will exert upon the smaller nations like Angola, Cameroon etc that are on the Security Council just look at what happened to Yemen when they voted against the 1st Gulf War and the US won that vote.

It makes me wonder to what levels will the Oil Junta swoop to get their way?

As far as the American people go, I tend to avoid wholesale condemnation of an entire group of individuals as it really serves no positive purpose and it only adds to the more than adequate amount of hate and prejudice that is already in the world. It is no secret that there are many Americans who are sick and tired of being "F"ed in the posterior by their own government officials.

You may be forgetting that the USA is a Constitutional Democracy, it is only restrained by the constitution, after that the government can do anything it wants. To compare with say France, the comparison has usually been the French constitution says everything is illegal unless allowed by the constitution, the American constitution says everything is legal unless disallowed by the constitution.

In other words they have "cleaned" the document to prevent it being tracked from it's contents (via deliberate spelling and grammatical errors in this case "topic" is spelt "topi", synonyms and the like)
