Would greatly apreciate some advice on where to pick somthing which would suit A photography portfolio.

Ive been around the Art shops round Stillorgan, Dun laoghaire, Dundrum etc....so I found one or two which were suitable but where 80 Eur for a bloody A4 sized on!!!!

At this stage im considering making it myself, but then I may loose marks on "presentation" etc.

Anyone know a good shop with somthing affordable and suitable?

Also any suggestions for a good layout? 1st part of it will simply be displaying images, then I will have an actual project with text and images, then I will have a brief portfolio description of work ive done my understanding of it etc.

Any advice would be greatly apreciated.

    Samba

Oh and i have an A4 sized image which I want to print out, anyone know a Cafe with a good quality colour printer?

    Try O'Sullivan art supplies.
Can't remember what the name of the street is, but it's just off Camden Street.
They are across the road from Havana Tapas Bar.

Also consider giving JM photo a call, they do lots of stuff like that, 01 4532134.

As far as the cost is concerned, I imagine it won't be cheap, no matter where you get it.

Samba: why don't you get your picture printed digitally? Go to either the Fuji Centre on Lower Abbey Street or the place on the Dame St. end of Georges St. The quality is excellent because you'll get it on proper photographic paper. You might also like to try Hackett's on Baggot St. for printing but they're pretty expensive.

As for portfolios, I can't really offer you much advice. I'm not even sure how you should section it but you should put a query up on the creativeireland boards. Perhaps do it by subject like: organic natural, landscape, urban, people yada yada.

Also: before you give it up for evaluation, I'd like to get a look at it!

Have you considered something like a museum box? They're great for storing photos etc., but I don't know whether you need this to be portable. There are also portfolio folders available. I'm living abroad at the moment, so I wouldn't know if any shops carry them. However, there is a company in the UK that supplies them.

Maybe you could contact them about buying one, or possibly they have dealers in Ireland? The prices seem reasonable.

Found what I needed in the most unlikely place, had been there a week before and asked, left my number and they ordered one in for me!

Nimble fingers in Stillorgan, nice A3 leather portfolio ring binder, only 25 Eur.

Practically the exact same one as the A4 one i saw in blackrock for 60 Eur

    a few ideas for you!
1st} you can buy an a4 or a3 portfolio case which is leather and embossed with your name on it which looks very professional, and is used by plenty of prossionals, its called a pro presenter but im not sure where you will pick one up in ireland, try looking on the net. it is quite an expensive item though!
2nd} another option is to look in daintry papers, they have a great selection of presentation folders for photography but they may also be able to make one to suit you? they also have a brilliant selection of rare paper and you could put something together with a spiral binding? the shop is off camden st down a lane across from o sullivan graphics im not sure of the name of the street.

    good luck....
