    Certainly,

    the fitzgibbon cup is a hurling trophy which the top hurling colleges and universities in ireland compete for such as WIT, Cork IT, UCC, LIT, UL, UCD, etc;

    its football equivalent is the sigerson cup.

    the ryan cup is a lower level trophy which less stronger hurling teams compete for such as Athlone IT, Carlow IT, Sligo IT etc;

    its football equivalent is the trench cup.

    i had heard of the other three, but must confess the Trench Cup is a new one to me. So do teams get relegated and promoted between the Sigerson and the Trench or how is it established which cup you enter for.

    Still congrats to the teams ...

    Its difficult to win any final. I know...Lost a crappy final last week
    We were playing Junior 3 and we were the more skillful team but the other lads just wanted the win and they beat us.

    So yeah...congrats

    Dunno how or if there is a relegation/ promotion aspect. there is promotion i think as Tipperary Institute will be competing in Fitzgibbon next year. i presume if there is promotion then a team would have to make way and as it is played on a RR basis in the 1st rnd i would say there is a relegation battle.
