Algarve - which resort?

    Thinking of going to the algarve for the hols this summer with g/f, just wondering which is the best resort to book..ideally lookin for a relaxed resort, lots to do during the day, decent restaurants, good nightlife etc...not loookin for the drunken beer crawl 18-30 resort. Has anyone any suggestions

    i would suggest pria du vau, there is a good complex there called estrelle du vau. I would suggest avoiding pria du rocha like it was the plague but if you are pissed then you may have fun.
    Alvor has some really nice relaxing areas. And if you do go anywhere near the area i would suggest you visit the titanic restaurant in pria du rocha.

    I have to say i went there last sept and a great holiday even though it rained almost every day.

    Albufeira or Montechoro are top spots. You can choose whether or not to indulge in the wild night life of Praia da Rocha (which is nearby) and Albufeira and Montechoros nite life is great...it can be wild if you want it to be but its not so "IN YA FACE"

    went with praia da vau in the end, staying in the Vitor Plaza apartments near alvor & praia da rocha...

    I stayed in Praia de Rocha in June 2001 and it was excellent. Wasn't one of those 18-30 puke your guts up places but if you wanted a toned down version it was perfect. It also has the best beach in the Algarve. The restaraunts are excellent and there's a cool Irish Bar called The Man of Aran. Also the weather over there during the summer is unreal. 30 - 40 everyday but cool at night. Will definatly be going there again at some stage.
