Its Seem VH1 Classic have changed there format. VH1 Classic smooth is changed to VH1 Classic HITS. Classic rocks hours have changed from 9pm to 5am, to 10pm to 2am. Which sucks, I love classic rock, best music channel on SKY.

Good: Got rid of easy listening "smooth" so the tracks can be mixed up more.

    Bad: Shortened Rock hours. :(

Couldnt agree more. That really sucks! If anything, they shouldve extended the Rock hours starting at least at 8pm!:(

FFS, like we need more pop music

what they have done is disgusting. Classic Rock hours were short enough as they were, and on at the wrong time. VH1 Classic is now only 4 hours short of being called Magic Extra

Love VH1 Classic Rock in the evening. Am indifferent about Classic Smooth. VH1 itself is however the best music channel on TV (although I have to admit, I don't get MTV-2).

Anyways... cable viewers can also recieve VH1 Classic, so I'm moving this thread to the Broadcasting forum.

I didnt know that was on NTL, I thought it was exclusive to Sky?

    Channel #138 on Go Digital.

With the launch of the EMAP channels last summer, we now have basically all the music channels that are on Sky Digital, barring MTV-2 (and TMF, if that's on Sky Digital now).

But alas for Chorus viewers! They are still left with only MTV, VH-1, and The Box.

VH1 Classic looked really good BEFORE I got Sky Digital. After it seemed pathetic.
MTV & VH1 I think are same company, not at all exclusive to Sky, pay versions are on nearly every Satellite and many European Cable systems.
VH1 & VH1 Classic seem to be Pay channels everyplace, But:

    FREE TV and Radio Pop/Country/Rock/Jazz/Classical:

There are very many good Pop Video TV and Pop / Jazz / Classical Radio on both old free analog Satellite and on European Free Digital Satellite.

An old Sky Analog box and Dish can get 4 Pop daytime and 5 at night:
    MTV Europe
    MTV 2
    Viva
    Viva Plus
    BTV ?
    About 20 radio stations.

A Digital receiver (Sky Digibox, PC Card or non-Digibox receiver) can get at least the following free POP from 13E and 19E:
    MTV Central
    MTV 2
    Viva Polska
    (Occasionally MTV Polska is Free)
    Viva
    Viva Plus
    Countdown
    Magic
    Hits 102
    Onyx
    Zik
    123Sat
And a few others I forget.
    About 200 Radio Stations
(Admittedly the DJ/Links are mostly German or Itallian, but there is much less presenter and much more music on the Non -UK versions).

On Sky 28.2, with any Digital Receiver and NO payment/Subscription:
    p-Rock
    Chart Hits
    Classic FM TV
    Performance
    About 60 Radio stations

(Warning: some German POP stations change to FTA Soft Porn at night).

Indeed they are both run by MTV Networks Europe Ltd, the parent company of which is Viacom Incorporated. Paramount and Nickelodeon are part of the same family.

MTV France and Spain are also licenced in the UK, oddly enough.

Which bird is this on? I dont think i have it. MTV Polska is pretty good whenever it's FTA. MTV2 POP is mostly music with very little DJ interferance. MTV Central, Viva, VivaPlus, Hits 102&5 and Onyx are pretty good.

There is also Tango TV (19E analog and digital) which is mostly music as far as i can see, and I do believe i have watched Simpsons in English on that channel! And Video Italia on Hotbird though all the music is Italian!

And from 28E, if your minidish signal is strong enough you can pick up Stanice O.

Countdown is Itallian. so maybe Hotbirds 13E. My PC has four "birds" on it and I don't always note which actual satellite I'm on.

Yes I forgot lots of other ones inc some FTA on Sky too:
    B4U Music
    U Music

Why does UK/Ireland have about 5 times the number of Shopping channels though compared with Itally, Spain, France, Germany etc.? Two for selling music (Simply Music and Chart whatever).

VH1 was great in Analogue days. But a about a month or two after getting Sky Digital (more than 8 years ago!) it was rubbish.

I've watched Vintage TV a few times recently. We have had no Pay TV for ages and I can't see what would even entice me back. I renewed the last time to get a dying Sky box replaced. But now Freesat HD boxes exist and HDMI out on PC sat card solutions. (how I get PC HDMI signal to TV without noise of fans)
