I get an error on startup on a laptop.

    "While initializing device IOS:
ERROR: Real Mode system memory allocation failed."

How do I fix that. It boots into safe mode but not normal. It running windows 98.

in safe mode try removing some devices from device manager, id start with the graphics driver, it's most probably a driver problem, installed anything new lately

I did a bit of fiddling and now I get this message,
"Windows Protection Error. You need to restart your computer". What does this mean?
