    How about we force Iraq to comply with resolution 1441 while militarily forcing Israel to comply with 242....
    for the first time I totally agree with daveIrl :)

    presumably abstained because of our neutrality , makes you wonder why we were on the security council at all then !

    We probobly abstained because we were told to. We have voted for many other resolutions on Israel. Also, all of the vetoes came from the US and the US only. Yes the US has done more to make the UN irrelivant than any other country but talk about it becoming irrelivant when they want approval on something.

    Sadly the difference is that Iraq has compulsary compliance resolutions passed against them, whereas there are no binding resolutions passed against Israel.

    So actually, it doesn't matter if they break them again and again.
