    hi all,

    i had sky digital installed on monday and have been unable to receive rte 1, network 2, tv3, tg4 or bbc1 ni.
    i have rang the helpline 4 days in a row but to no avail.

    is anyone else experiencing these problems

    It seems to be an issue with these new Sky cards.
    Keep hounding them (Its a freephone number --I think)

    As far as I know they are actually English card which they have sent out. I have not tried this but an installer has told me that if you add the frequencies of the english channels (itv,ch4, five,and Bbc) that these channels appear. As I have said I have yet to confirm this so maybe either Tony or Irishbyte can as they are also installers.

    This has been happening quite a lot. Speaking to the local rep on Monday about this, and he said that the cards will display RTE, TV3, and BBC after 4-5 days, a week at the most. He reckoned that the problem is to do with the software for the card (not the box) and that the channels will work once the card software has updated. Up until then, I had the customers cards replaced but I was told that was unnecessary. The last few installs went without a hitch so I'm hoping things are ironed out.

    Maybe Tony can elaborate further on this...

    The problem was the activation for RTE etc was being sent on low priority data stream which was taking some time to reach the card. The tecnical director said they were working on a solution but gave the impression it was being sorted, obviously not. Would be interesting to see if ITV works up to the point were the card is updated?

    I've Posted this problem on another thread,Sky Digi Kid I have put in the frequencey,s and have got all the BBC's, including the Kid's bbc, which they love, except BBC 1, I have channel four and the 2 ITV's, and an open channel.

    Is it worth losing these over, RTE 1+2, TV3 and TG4, which i can get anyway, all be it not as good reception?. The only station i cannot get is BBC 1.........I'm having second thoughts about ringing Sky about this problem.

    i was back on to sky again last night and they were sympathetic but said they were working flat out to correct the problem that is happening with the new cards only.
