Hi, i'm getting a powerbook soon, was wondering if, when you burn a DVD on one, can you watch it on a regular DVD player?

Yup, you should be able to burn them as region 0 so they'll play anywhere.. and the DVD software I believe allows you to make your own menus 'n stuff. Dunno for sure though, I'm going for the cheaper CD writer / DVD player drive myself. :)

Also the CD-RW/DVD combo drives burn CDs faster than the Superdrives do.

    24x vs 12x I believe.

Not necessarily. What format does it record DVDs in? DVD+R or DVD-R? DVD-R has more compatability with stand alone DVD players something like 90% - so they say. DVD+R will work in most stand alone DVD players something like 80% I think, but the discs are more expensive.

they should play in your domestic dvd player. Anything I've burned on a superdrive has been no hassle on domestic players.

there's a list of compatible players at http://www.apple.com/dvd/compatibility
