The SID chip on the c64 was pretty good for it's time and with the likes of Rob Hubbard then creating decent tunes... nearly everyone who had a c64 must have a favourite?

    Wizball by far...

    1. Wizball
    2. Rambo First Blood (great tune)
    3. The Last Ninja
    4. Parallax
    5. Green Beret (Loading music)
    6. Delta
    7. Armalyte (nice moody loading track)
    8. Platoon (night fight sequence)
    9. LightForce
    10. Zoids

I think I remember Rob Hubbard made music for an unreleased game "The Day the Universe died". I haven't come across it since but it wasn't bad. The demo of the game was pretty good for it's time: filled in polyon ships etc. Maybe the speed issue put 'em off it.

I've got pretty much all the SIDS imaginable for the C64. I love the music from this machine, still as catchy as ever. Top music tunes would be (in no particular order).

In game music for Rambo First Blood Pt II
    Commando
    Ghost n'Goblins
    Thrust
    Spy vs Spy
Loading music for Staff of Karnath
    Ocean Loader
    Sanxion
    Fairlight
    Cauldron I + II
Forbidden Forrest (sounds crap but goes with the game).
    Pitfall II (simple but catchy).
    Last Ninja I
    Dragons Lair II

    The list goes on.

Here's a cool site with hundreds of remixed C64 tunes in mp3 format. I've got a fair few myself. Some of them are really good www.remix64.com

i found that the best tunes were the ones u used to hum for weeks after playing a game for days at a time
Wonderboy + Bubble Bobble being the big culprits

Without a doubt my vote goes for Matt Grays soundtrack to The Last Ninja Part 2

In fact I liked it so much that I even recorded the SID file and made a 13 track CDR out of it which I still listen to occasionally.

Amazing to think that back then you could get 62minutes of music into a 40kb of memory :)

Yeah, the The Last Ninja series had some pretty good music. Some pretty good mp3 remakes going around now. The Ocean loader is good as ever! :D
