Tadhg Cooke, Ross Breen and Fiach are playing...
    Da2 is the venue...
Sunday 9th March is the date...
    The doors open at 8:30...
    The damage will be €6
(I think... although we may charge
more if you look nice and can afford it)

Tadhg Cooke just released The Sparks EP which has
been getting fairly heavy rotation on our dear Phantom.
This is the only Dublin gig he has lined up at the moment
    so get down there.
Ross Breen, a young leixlip singer/songwriter, is a veteran of
    the legendary Open Zone.
Fiach is also an Open Zone regular and can often be spotted
in the top gig spots in Dublin... Da2, Voodoo, Eamon Doran's etc.

    Bottom line is...
it should be a cracking gig.

I should also mention that the setup will be unusual.
For the first two hours we are going to do two twenty
minute sets each. Then there's going to be a free for all
involving whiskey, tarte aux pommes and a randomly
chosen female member of the audience.

I lied about the whiskey, apple tart and the lady.
There will however be a free for all.
    It will cost €6 though.
Free to those who can afford it...

This may sound a little mad. However
we think it will keep things lively.
If anyone has any thoughts on the matter
    please let us know.

    Hehe!
    Seriously though Ross is brilliant!!
He was brilliant at the open zone and im sure he'll be even better in a bigger more serious (wrong word i know but meh!) venue like the Da2. He has a really fantastic voice andi is fantastic on the guitar!

is there some underlying link between the tart and the lady?

    Hmm?

    Roxy

"free to those who can afford it"...sounds almost as confusing as Dempsey's justification of the re-introduction of third-level fees.

the open zone fellas would kill you for that Amz!
how much more serious can a venue be?
okay, it's address may leave something to be desired ;)

... is roxy suggesting that Noel Dempsey
(a.k.a. The Evil Enemy of Democracy with The Lego Haircut)
(he's not known in many places by that name... it's not catchy)
    is a Withnail & I fan?????
It's all beginning to make sense!

Ah yeah but St.Mary's GAA and the F*ckin Hitcher???!!!

I meant of course by serious that its available/accessable to a far wider audience, as leixlip isnt exactly a central location now is it??
People from other parts of Dublin etc weren't exactly going to hop on a 66 and nip out to leixlip on a wednesday evening and pay over €50/€60 for a taxi home.

Playing the Da2 just means that more people will be able to hear how talented Ross is, because there aren't many round here that dont know already!

That's very unfair to the tens of tens of people that
have wandered all the way from glasnevin, raheny,
howth and various other places miles away from
leixlip just to see me play. Okay, so Damien Dempsey
may also have motivated them slightly. But I'm sticking
to my guns! Never let a beautiful hypothesis be slain
    by an ugly fact.
Definitely though... Da2 is a good central location.
    It's going to be marvellous.

I only missed one Open Zone!!! (stupid lleaving cert)
Im not knocking the open zone at all i mean i dunno what i would have done for live music at all if i hadnt got that amenity near by! It reallly was very well organised and there wasnt one occassion that i left disappointed or sober! I apologise to any one who took offence from what i said re the venue i as i said in my above post Serious was not the right word for what i wanted to convey. I couldnt think at the time (for some reason) and central was probably the word i was trying to think of.

Ooh yeah tigger I have a recurring dream in which Noely D is smothered in Deep Heat and up against a radiator.

    eh must dash...

    Roxy

D'yknow I'd swear that if i stood in Da2 and stretched my arms out one to the left one to the right I could touch both walls at once. Could make an interesting photo if everyone in the place did it together and then all the midgets ran around under people's legs.

It took me a while to get that.
    I wish I hadn't.
    What a horrible image.
Not the touching the walls image.
    The other one.
I'm off to have a nightmare

I heard the Tadhg Cooke E.P. for the first time last night and I have to say its definitely worth the couple of quid it will cost to go to this gig. Its rare to hear something thats in the lo-fi, singer-songwriter medium that sounds original but without losing the quality of the core of the song. Incidently (or not) he is also playing at the next IRIS night in TBMC on the 20th March, so if you like what you hear......
    Cheers.
