    Hi,

    for anyone that's interested..

MeCon 6 will be our sixth annual convention and is to be held from the 7 - 9 March 2003. This year's guests are the science fiction and fantasy authors Peter F Hamilton and Ian McDonald, and comics artist Paul J Holden.

Over the weekend we run a number of events including discussion panels, a table quiz and speeches by the guests. We also run a number of charity events in aid of the convention charity, the Ulster Cancer Foundation's Daffodil Appeal. These will include a coffee morning, an auction of science fiction books signed by the authors and a charity raffle.

As well as having things like video showings, panels, and various other stuff, Mecon will for the first time be having a dedicated anime stream running through the convention. We'll also be having a charity raffle where you can win a selection of anime DVDs from our sponsor, MVM UK.

If anyone would like further details, fire off an email to mecon@qubscifi.org.uk , or take a look at our website at http://www.mecon.org .

Hmmmmm. Something like this would really only interest me if it were based more in the comic area. I mean if you wanted to talk science no problem i'd sit and have a lengthy discussion with you -but this would be more to do with sci-fi.

I guess i'd have to ask - what do you guys mainly talk about? Wouldn't wanna head up there and think "Damn i've nothing to say....time for beer!!"

What's talked about? Pretty much anything and everything, really : )

The reason it was posted here is that a comics artist will be attending, who's worked on various stuff before (including 2000AD). He'll be sitting on a number of panels throughout the con, and indeed there'll be quite a few people in attendance with interest in comics. I wouldn't imagine you'd run out of things to talk about : )

The convention covers a number of different areas, from the more traditional literary/media scifi&fantasy, to comics, and this year quite a bit of japanese animation as well.
