    Hi All

I was wondering if anyone can tell me how to setup a connection between my laptop and mobile to the internet using blue tooth?

It would be so cool to be connected to the internet with my laptop and have my mobile in my pocket and no wires

I have a 6310 and a toshiba tablet PC running XP pro

    Thanks in advance

hi deckie - does your toshiba have integrated bluetooth, do you slot in a card, or are you looking to add it (i remember seeing bluetooth as an optional add-on in the US specs)?

if it's integrated then is it using the Bluetooth Service Centre application?

if you slot in a card, what make/model is it?

or are you looking to add bluetooth to the tablet pc?

grand - can you say which network you are going to be using and if you have GPRS set-up (or High Speed Data [HSCSD] if on Vodafone), and I take it you are a (post-pay) billed customer?

also can you do a *#0000# on your 6310 and say what appears on the first line (it's the software version on the phone) - some earlier versions have issues with bluetooh and gprs over bluetooth connections

once those details are checked we need to do three things, i'll go though them in steps:

pairing (create a trusted partnership) between the TabletPC and the 6310

we need to install the bluetooth modem drivers and configure the modem (either manually or using the Nokia Modem Set-up Control Panel Extenstion)

and then create the dial-up connections for accessing the internet

grand - nokia modem setup and Bluetooth driver is here:
    http://www.nokia.com/cda1/0,1080,1190,00.html

have Bluetooth running (so that it's ports are active), you will have to manually install the Bluetooth modem (it usually only installs automatically when using the Nokia or Socket card) make sure you assign the modem COM Port to the Toshiba's Bluetooth client serial port (see local device port properties in the Toshiba Bluetotoh Manager)

you can configure HSCSD settings in the Nokia Modem Properties control panel (make sure the Nokia 6310 Bluetooth Modem is selected when applying changes)

you will then need to make a dial-up networking connection for the HSCSD account using the Bluetooth modem

with Bluetooth on the 6310 active, do a device discovery on the Toshiba , you can select the 6310 and view it's services, highlight the Dial-Up Networking and click the connect icon - the 6310 will as you if you want to accept the connection / enter a pass key if it's the first time connecting

you need to manually connect to the 6310's DUN service over Bluetooth before you use the dial-up networking account you have set up on the PC

if you have a 6310 software version lower than 4.20 you may run into problems if you want to use GPRS

hope it works out for you

Ok I was at it last nite and am getting closer
    I have them paired
I have the Nokia bluetooth modem setup
I have the dial-up connection setup

At the moment it will make a call but get disconnected after a second or two.

There is one issue and (As I started to write this )I think it is related to the fact that I tried to auto install the Bluetooth modem and it wanted to uninstall the infra modem. The Nokia modem icon is gone from the Control Panel.

I now from using the infra/cable that there is 3 settings
    modem
    used for regular dialups
    110 isda
used for e-merge Connects very quickly
    something else

I think the problem could lie with these settings

Need to go home and try it again
