ENN reported yesterday that Minister Ahern, in a bid to be seen to do something, rounded up some 'communicable' worthies including Bill Murphy (of whom more elsewhere but lets not dwell on Bill :D) .

Their task is to tell us all , especially the slow learning Minister Ahern, What to do about Broadband and Quick lads

The other Ahern fella is big on these reports too so watch yourself Dermot. There was a good one in 1998 , this one in 2002 and this Really good one here, also from 2002 .

The interesting things about them all are.

    1. They made intelligent suggestions on driving Broadband rollout.

    2. They were roundly ignored by the idiot politicians who commissioned them

    3. Despite the fact that they were good reports, Bill Murphy was not invited to contribute to any of them.

    4. Bill Murphy will not contribute anything useful to the DCMNR one that will in any way enhance what the governments own civil servants told them a year ago for free.........especially Here .

    5. The committee will not set up a consultation forum on the DCMNR website (nasty thing may be said on it about Bill, ouch)

    6. The committee will not seek or accept representations on what may be done to drive things along, after all they are experts.

Can I be on Next years useless committee Minister, I could do with the mileage allowance :D

    M

    What's new?!

Same reason as eircom and ESAT BT squirt loads of dosh from time to time on advertising in some political pretence game about internet access.

Observe a similar approach when it comes to the road system.

Observe a similar approach when it comes to public transport.

Observe a similar approach when it comes to airports.

Observe a similar approach when it comes to health services.

Observe a similar approach when it comes to renewable energy and reducing CO2 to comply with Kyoto.

Observe a similar approach when it comes to data protection.

The dysfunctionality of the political system is unfortunately taken to the extreme in Ireland.

Hence under 3,000 DSL subscribers in Feb 2003 etc etc. And I don't think Muck will be getting any petrol money for attendance on some government committee any time soon either :- (

    zz..
