Busker floors junkie in Temple Bar

    did anyone see this today?

i was waking through, and all i caught was the busker holding up a smashed guitar, then a junkie squaring up to him.

then he smacked the junkie out of it with the guitar, knocked him down, and gave him a serious serious kick in the face, rendering the junkie unconcious, possibly dead im not sure.

my only theory on this is that the junkie might have hassled him while he was palying, possibly broken his guitar, if this was the case i think the junkie deserved it. but thats only speculation as i didnt see the full thing

    witnesses?
    thoughts?

might i just add that despite the GARDA cameras pointing onto the square in temple bar, there was no sign of gardai until 20 minutes after the incident.

bussey : obviously nobody deserves to die like that, what i meant was the busker was well within his rights to kick the sh it out of him, the outcome of which is irrelevant. (but i dont even know how it started so i cant say either way)

Really .. you didn't even witness what happened so how can you say the busker well within his rights

the outcome is irrelevant? so if he dies its irrelevant?

is he well within his rights cause this guy was a junkie??
or cause he aledgedly broke his guitar??

so if one drunken night one of your mates, brakes someones guitar, he deserves a good kicken?? and teh outcome is irrelevant

    Well, pick one :)

If your prepared to deal out crap, you have to be prepared to get the living sh1t beaten out of you aswell. Its only fair. I certainly wont lose sleep after hearing about it..

    'wan teh busker.

I don't remember the last time a busker suddenly jumped up and smacked anyone across the head. So I would tend to believe the scumbag deserved it.

lol this is getting out of hand.......

i dont know if hes dead or not, he just looked it.

i have to admit i felt sorry for him in a way, but people have to be able to take responsibility for their actions, i really dont think the busker just stopped busking and jumped on a junkie for the fun of it, he must have had good reason to.

the busker seemed like your average kind of person, he seemed semi proffesional anyway with amps and a mike etc

Wait... you couldn't even tell if the guy was dead or not, yet you knew he was a junkie.
    Your comments make little sense.

ok i saw the junkie again yesterday walking around temple bar, so hes not dead.

not even a mark on the bastard

also i was informed that he used to be a major major heroin and coke dealer in coolock and was in with the coolock "gang" that carried out the armed robbieries in the area

    and now hes a junkie

    there ya go

If he is a heroin / coke dealer, it's a pity he's not dead. We'd all be better off. Fair play to the busker. Maybe if he was playing a steel guitar things would have worked out better :)

Which busker? If it was around the square it could've been McSavage. In which case the fight probably started cause he'd been an ass to said junkie.

Who's Mc Savage ? Is he the guy with glasses who has (or used to have I suppose) a pink electric guitar ?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 166 ✭✭BeatTun

i dunno ive only seen him there once, i think he had glasses, when i walked past first he was doing impressions of brits, irish and yanks

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,592 ✭✭✭✭Dont be at yourself

    McSavage is the daddy.

Junkie was probably in the wrong, the amount of junkies I've seen hassling buskers.

I'm really getting sick of them, Theres a squat in a building near where i live, and they use our roof as their entrance.

Last day a mate was walking back from the shop, and was had a shard of glass just miss his face, when he looked up to she wtf happened, another came down and narrowly missed him. They've threatened to bust up me and other, aswell as break into our apartment.
    Their beyond a joke.

They do deserve a second chance, but only some!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 683 ✭✭✭TenLeftFingers

Holy **** Doodee, thats a tough situation to be in. Especially when you're up against ppl who have nothing to lose.

Your best chance to **** with them would be if you knew you were moving somewhere else soon. But then you dont want to leave your flatmates to bear the brunt of your actions.

Who is that busker that plays the coke bottles, he rocks my world :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,423 ✭✭✭Doodee

unfortunately i cant really do anything, just get used to it, and lock the apartment down like a fortress.

Moving would involve an up in rent, or else moving from town, which i cant do.

Used to be a mate of mine. He ended up in the paper doin it at one stage. Herald I think.. We started it about 4 or 5 years ago AFAIR. Sittin in a field behind a church. He had the bottles, we had sticks n rocks n bins n all sorts of crap that made noise when you hit it. Only he came up with the idea of buskin in town with the coke bottles.

Wont post his name, but He was a student in TCD and I bellieve I heard somewhere, that hes now a teacher.

Note: We were not extremely sober when this process was invented. A lot like the Red Light song the same guy made on the way to the off licence...

best busker i've seen in a long time was a Spanish guy(?) playing that Las Ketchup song on grafton street last week.

theres some good money to be made in busking regardless of how good/bad you are.

Saw a wino begging at BOI cash machine on Camden St last friday. The muppet was so pissed he was after pissing himself and he was still begging. He was still sitting in the pool of piss btw, to pissed to move.

If you ask me people in security often get the pigeon holing wrong. I know, I've been put in the wrong category many times.

Anyway, as an occasional busker, I'd just like to say A; there are only a few random scumbag buskers on the streets compared to legit ones and B; If someone threatens your livelihood you should entitled to defend yourself.

I'm not saying I know the facts in this case, It's just I have been hassled by scumbags many a time in the same place. I play with fire so they tend to not get physical for fear of burning themselves(although you'd be surprised, a few junkies will walk straight into fire in the hope you will recompense them for hurting them, or just to start a fight). I've seen buskers lose a whole nights earnings in seconds. You may not think its hard work, but for some who chosen to pursue music full time it's the only way to survive in times of few gigs.

Na, he was in the region of 20 - 25 and wore a bandana.

Btw he was actually pretty zhit, but i meant it in a way that he had balls to continue to play such a brutal song with people walking by, continuously muttering under their breath at him for being such a fool. That my friend is the reason why i mentioned him.

    kudos to the man though
