my parents want to get chorus digital which they maintain is finally available in our area. i was wondering how it compares with sky. what channels are available, i checked the website, but that cant seriously be the whole list is it? looks like they're missing a few!!! althought they have ch4 and utv! is that the whole list or are there more channels???
also anyone who has both sky and chorus, how do they compare, i have sky myself but if chorus is good enough now i may swap, but according to the list they dont have mtv2 or the emap suite so maybe not :-(

on Digital Cable or Digital MMDS?
The Digital MMDS is only 60 Channels and nearly twice the Sky price.

Hasn't the main ICDG site got Cable list?

Sky if you cancel after a year you still own the system and still get nearly 60 Radio and a half dozen decent Free TV out of 60 or 70 free rubbish ones.

That was the list as early 2001. There have been changes since then. According to a post recently, E4 has been added, sharing a channel with QVC.

The pricing in the Chorus section of the website (indeed, as with many other sections of the website) is well out of date. If someone posts up the current complete price list for Chorus, I'll update it of course.

Keeping the ICDG website fully up to date is a task I really don't have the time to give to any more. I try to keep the news up to date, but that's all I can really do at the moment.

It's true. Us poor Chorus troglodytes are now treated to E4 and The Racing Channel for no extra money. From what I've experienced of the two, E4 is a pixellated freezing mess with a Graham Norton soundtrack, and The Racing Channel is a pixellated freezing mess with a horse racing soundtrack.

I've said it before and I'll say it again:

    AVOID CHORUS AT ALL COSTS.

    Please! :D

    Another happy customer eh Oz?

I'll second what Ozpass said. I've had Sky since August (Chorus for four years before that) and well, I'm a lot happier now. Being able to see a picture and not have it disappear for days on end for no particular reason is a bit of a plus as well.

lads will yeah go to the chorus website for the latest info.
The channel lineup and the prices are displayed there.
They have a whole new website. and yah get to keep your old cable for free. if yah have an analog box with skysports/movies on it they will let yah have that aswell for no extra cost.

Not on analogue MMDS, but there is on Digital MMDS...

Glad to see Chorus finally relaunched and updated their website. Also that they have dropped the packs idea in favour of one "big basic" pack like NTL. Will be giving the ICDG site an update (not tonight, perhaps tommorow) this week to reflect this.

But alas! There is no press releases section on the site...

    Just spoke to Chorus on 1890 20 20 29.

To get Digital MMDs used to be more expensive than Digital Cable. A few months ago I was quoted 38 Euro for Digital MMDS to get Animal Planet, Discovery, Nat Geo. It is now 26 Euro by DD.

The basic 38 Channel pack is really as good as Sky's 90 channels family pack. (UK Gold, G Plus, BBC, UTV, C4, Discovery etc).

But can they install it and keep the signal going?

    Will they stay in business?

They offered me a second Digital Receiver for Digital MMDS for 15 Euro a month.

Same price now as Sky, with "bonus" of cheaper second box, UTV and C4.

Still Sky have better track record on Install, good signal (till satellite gets hit by metor) and staying in business than cable or MMDS operators.

50 Euro install spreadible over first few months of bill..

If you "MADLY" into UTV/C4 and can't get a Sky FTV card, then the Chorus Digital MMDS or Digital Cable might be a good deal. If you want "specialist" channels, Continental TV, 60 radio inc BBC Radio and /or can get a FTV card then Sky is a better deal.

Sky can be took on holiday to a carvan, Camper Truck, Holiday Cottage anywhere in Ireland, UK and much of Europe too.
