IMPORTANT QUAKE 2 SERVER ANNOUNCEMENT

Our ftp server at ftp.quake.ie supports the
reget command.

Now, if you are downloading one of the big
9MB or 6MB files, I suggest you use one of
the following methods as they support reget
in one form or another:

* GetRight - available from getright.com.
This wonderful package 'rolls back' 4k
from where it's connection was lost.
Just make sure to download into the
same directory as you started getting
the file.

* Internet Explorer 4 - supports resumed
downloads apparently (although I haven't
tried it myself).

* WS_FTP Pro - choose Options, Pro and
click on 'Enable auto reget of failed
transfers'.

Hello folks -

I have held off on upgrading the Quake 2 servers for the simple reason
that Id had not released the 3.12 patch for Linux.

Last night, they released the 3.13 patch.

Now what this means for those of you who have still got 3.10 is that
you will have to download the q2_313.exe file from the files section,
and for those who have already gotten the 3.12 point release, you
should get the q2_312to313.exe from the same place.

This patch includes the brand spanking new Id Quake 2 DM levels,
including Tokay's Towers and the Slimy Place (heh!).

To play on quake.ie's Q2 servers (or indeed any other Q2 server as
I have no doubt that they will all be upgrading today), you must get
this q2_313.exe file (or the q2_312.exe and q2_312to313 upgrade).

Also, we have added the official Q2 CTF 1.01 patch to our q2ctf1
server.

To play on this server, download the q2ctf10.exe mod and get the
q2ctf101.zip upgrade to 1.01. This server now features the specially
designed CTF levels by Zoid. Type "use grapple" for the hook.
