Broadband grrrrr!

Ok.. I'm about to move into a new house. I have broadband at the moment through (rip-off gits) eircom. When I rang to ask them to check the line for the new place, they told me about the new packages coming out, which will mean the rental is considerably cheaper (though they can't guarantee the same speeds!). They seem to think these will be out by the end of March, so the question is do I wait before re-connecting, until the new packages come out?

Or should I say, if I wait, what do I do in the meantime. When I first ordered the broadband for where I am now, I had to wait a month before it was up and running and I paid eircoms standard dial-up. I nearly had a heart attack when the phone bill came in. I use the internet for work, all day. I can’t afford to do this again. So if I am going to wait does anyone know the cheapest ISP out there? And what is the likelihood that it will actually be out at the end of March? I could be paying dial-up for months!!

Close to a certainty that the cheaper service will be on sale by the end of March, but I don't know if the new service involves new equipment in the exchange (meaning there could be a long rollout phase). I'd wait if I was you, maybe sign up with UTV to take the edge off the dialup bill. At least by the end of March we'll know more about the situation.

pretty strange they told you about the new packages, when they could've locked you in a 12 month"i-stream" contract

oh and i think utvip.com do a daytime offer ...check it out !
[didn't notice it was mentioned already]

I gave them a ring to find out and when they checked they said that I would be on a yearly contract which would mean that whilst I would be able to switch packages when they come out, I can't stop having the broadband and wait until the new packages comes out... thanks for the nudge
